THE MISSING SHAD GASPARD, RING ANNOUNCING FLUBS, MICHAEL COLE'S ANNOUNCING AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2010-08-29 10:00:00
I was wondering if you guys knew where in the world Shad Gaspard has disappear to? I never read a report where he was released. Did he get injured? On vacation? He was slowly getting a push and just vanish off of SmackDown!

Shad Gaspard is still under contract to WWE but hasn't been used in some time on the Smackdown roster.  He's popped up in developmental a few times and is working on a graphic novel he and former WWE star Mark Copani wrote, but beyond that, there's nothing new on the Shad front as of this writing.  If he's out due to an injury, it's one we haven't heard of.

Why is Michael Cole hating on the superstars so much as of late? I can see the part about him loving the Miz in a way, but he's railing on Daniel Bryan constantly, which I guess would go along with loving the Miz, but now he's hating on R-Truth's entrance. Is it just to help the viewers prepare for Truth's new music? I know after a while the "What's Up?" gets old, but it's obviously a hit for the kids in the crowd, why's he hating on so many people now?

Michael Cole is doing what he's asked to do as an announcer.  I don't doubt that there are times he says things just to pop himself but for the most part, he's directed in regard to what he says.

Before leaving the WWE former ring announcer Lillian Garcia had on occasion mispronounced the names of wrestlers. What moments do you recall when the names of wrestlers, male or female, were announced incorrectly? My favorites are when veteran female stars Debbie Combs and Penny Mitchell, prior to their expected  matches, were both announced as Debbie Coleman and Penny Marshall. What's your favorite?

Recently at the NWA Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, NC, Bryan Danielson was introduced as "The Ultimate Dragon Bryan Pearce."  That was pretty hilarious.  I can also remember a rare Howard Finkel mistake at Wrestlemania 5 where he called King Haku "King Tonga."

I read that the place known as The Olympic in LA is no longer in existence. It was a venue noted for wrestling in the 70's and 80's. Would you know who originally owned/operated The Olympic around that particular period of time? Just wondering. Thank You.

I believe it was operated by the city of Los Angeles.

Did Linda McMahon ever wrestle?

No, Linda McMahon was never a wrestler.  She was involved in some angles but never wrestled a match.
