SHAWN MICHAELS VS. STING, HEADLINING MANIA VS. BEING THE CHAMP, COULD TNA GET BAD HEAT WITH ANDERSON, A WWE APPEARANCE FOR BRUNO AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2010-03-15 10:00:00

WWE has been a long time fixture in Pittsburgh and has run cards at the Civic/Mellon Arena since the WWWF days. The loudest ovation I heard for any event EVER was when Bruno Sammartino started his walk to the ring for his "goodbye" match against Nikolai Volkoff. It was absolutely deafening. Is there anything in the world that Vince McMahon could do to talk Bruno into appearing for the final wrestling show to be held at the Mellon Arena for the RAW show in May before they open the new facility?

Given the things that Bruno has said over the years about Vince McMahon, I see very, very little chance of him ever doing a 180 and appearing for WWE.  If I had a gun at my head I would be pretty confident in saying that it won't happen.  And before anyone says "What about Bret Hart" remember this, Hart became a star for McMahon and had a close relationship with him.  That isn't the case with Bruno.

I've always been a big Carlito mark, I think him on NXT is just helping his character shine through. Without any tag teams on SD, (DX done, Legacy on the verge & I don't count MVP & WSM) could you see WWE rekindling Carlito & Primo's relationship, since them "hating each other" went nowhere. I think they worked great together and it would remind people that tag teams don't have to be a big fat guy and an athletic wrestler.

It's possible.  Throughout his run Carlito has been his own biggest enemy.  He never seems to get much of a push because of it.  I don't know if he would really want to be a tag guy but it beats nothing.

Currently watching TNA Impact (3/08), flipping back and forth 'tween it and RAW. First question: Would you rank Shawn Michaels ahead of Sting, if you were to take their respective careers to date? This is to take into consideration things like ring savvy and expertise, mic work, and working with others (i.e. who has been less political about putting people over, selling the business before selling themselves, etc.).

Yes I would.  I think Michaels is the better worker and the better promo.  He had his issues earlier in career doing jobs at time but still he is the better overall wrestling in my opinion.

I didn't watch Impact last week (I'm actually one of those people who only ever tuned into Impact when it went live on Monday 1/4 and tonight), but I saw tonight a rather involved angle with Angle (no pun!), Anderson and the army. My question pertains to how dangerous you feel this angle is in regards to the kind of heat Anderson will get. I know Americans have a lot of love for the men and women of the armed forces (rightly so), I'm just wondering if this is a smart move in general for TNA as a whole.

I think the business has gotten to the point where that kind of old school heat is impossible to draw from an angle like this.  People know that it's all a show now.

What's with Trips slagging Sheamus for not achieving anything yet since Sheamus hasn't fought at Wrestlemania? Sheamus was a WWE champ! Wrestlemania main event spot > WWE Championship?? What do you think?

Obviously, it was posturing and part of the storyline but it's not entirely out of line either.  Headlining WrestleMania usually means you get the biggest pay day of the year.  There is a lot to say for spot and payday, especially guys who had short title runs that may not have made that much in two or three PPVs.
