JOEY STYLES, BRET VS. VINCE, X-DIVISION AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2010-02-04 10:00:00
Don't you guys think that it would not only be a bigger match and have more people interested at Wrestlemania to have Bret Hart VS Shawn Michaels rather than Bret VS Vince?

Actually, I don't, for the simple reason that Vince McMahon, ultimately, is the one who screwed Bret Hart.  Shawn Michaels and Earl Hebner were following Vince's orders that night.  So, this would be (in a storyline sense) the chance to see Bret get revenge on the man that screwed him over.

Do you ever see Joey Styles returning to broadcasting? I know everybody loves Good Ol' J.R and I have always loved his work as well. But, I have always believed Joey Styles made the match sound important and really sold the program as well as to me was an ELITE announcer. I know he moved to WWE.com but, I just have a feeling he is just at WWE because of money and not happiness and belongs calling matches. He would be better than Tenay in my eyes or work good with Taz and Tenay.

I wouldn't say Joey isn't happy.  He's always enjoyed the Internet side of wrestling, and being in charge of WWE.com gives him the opportunity to work in that area.  Remember, prior to the ECW relaunch, he wasn't working in the wrestling business at all, so it wasn't like he was desperate for a job.  Now, for your question, if WWE wants him to return to broadcasting, then I imagine he would.  However, WWE seems content with Michael Cole as their lead announcer and with bringing along Todd Grisham and Josh Mathews as play-by-play men.

Why doesn't T.N.A put an X-Division tag title together. It should of never been Women's Tag because there is no emphasis on it and there's really only 2 tag teams. T.N.A could bring in some great smaller guys for an X-Division tag title as well as give other stars much needed air time. It would be a hell of alot more exciting especially with some emphasis on it such as defending on iMPACT every week. You know you would have an exciting match.

I'm against having too many championships in a company, so I would go against this idea.  "X-Division" teams like the Motor City Machine Guns have been able to have competitive and believable matches for the World Tag Titles, so I don't think they need another set of tag straps.

Why is it when a wrestler, male or female, trips someone causing them to fall face forward down onto the mat most people call that a drop toe hold even though no toe hold is applied? Its more of a take down. Why is that?

It's still a drop toe hold, in that they drop to the mat, and use their legs to scissor an opponent's leg.  Just because they don't maintain the toe hold aspect after the fall doesn't change that.

This is a test. If two wrestlers fighting one another end up outside the ring leading to one of them tossing their opponent back in the ring the referee then leans out ordering you back in the ring what do you do? (a) get back in immediately (b) stand their with your arms folded (c) start conversing with the fans (d) grab a magazine from a fan and start reading or (e) you say to yourself "Why didn't I think of that?" and jump back in. The answer is (a) Why would a referee order you back in the ring? What does he think you are going to do? Just stand there or something like a fool.

Yeah, it does seem silly for the referee to say "Get back in the ring," but I guess it beats them saying "You have a ten count to return to the ring" and then start counting.
