Will the "Monday Night Wars" have the same relevance today as they had back the last time they were fought?? More and more people have DVR's and such these days, so apart from the initial watch through, the viewer can watch both in comfort. The only loss comes from the advertisers buying time during the first watched program IF it is watched live. I often watch all programs loaded with adverts on my Sky+ box to avoid them anyway......
I get the point you are making but a lot of people still flip through the channels. They will watch Raw and at a commercial very well may flip over to TNA if it's on. More than that however is the charge that both companies get by going head-to-head. Anything that makes Vince McMahon get motivated is fine by me. I think that factor would be every bit as relevant today as it was back when WCW and WWE were competing.
With TNA getting bigger in terms of roster size, do you see any overlooked talent that WWE will be willing to sign and turn into a mega star similar to how WCW dropped the ball on numerous stars (HHH, Austin, Foley, Jericho, etc.) and perhaps WWE turning them into megastars?
If TNA goes the WCW route and ignores talented younger guys sure, I could see that happening, or WWE trying at least. It's not like they have been doing a great job of creating young stars themselves.
and it has to do with the late Brian Pillman. What if he hadn't died so young and before his time? Do you believe, given his "Loose Cannon" gimmick, that he would have achieved superstar status like Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock given that he essentially paved the way for the attitude era?
Honestly, I don't think he would have gotten over to that degree. I know that some people thought Pillman was a true top guy but I always saw him as a 1A type, not in the league of Rock and Austin (not that many people were). When he was "Flyin' Brian" he was your basic babyface. It was only when he started booking his own angles that he became really interesting, especially to the hardcores. I think he was very talented but he didn't have that "stand out at the top" persona to him the way that Rock and Austin did. I think he could have been an integral player in the Attitude era, but not a top tier talent.
Is it me or is WWE creative dropping the ball when they don't use the obvious joint name for Rosa Mendez and Zack Ryder...ROZAC.
You really think it would be a good idea to play off of the name of a depression drug? I wouldn't do that.
Regarding the TNA Producer speech at Impact's tapings, I can't understand where he was coming from as far as gang signs go, when not long ago, they had a Latin American gang faction, LAX, that threw up constant gang signs. Also, they tell people not to curse and yet they do. Isn't there a double standard?
Well, in the case of LAX they can say that was before what we call the Hogan reset took place. OK, but that doesn't explain the middle fingers and swearing that we have seen on TV since the reset. They could say "we know when it's coming so we can hit the censor button" but it does seem like it doesn't jive with what the other "members of the TNA cast" are being told. They can do whatever they want on their show, for sure, but when you tell the audience not to curse, you probably shouldn't have your talent do it either.
