JEFF HARDY-WWE, WRESTLERS TAKING ACTING CLASSES, BABYFACES ACTING LIKE HEELS AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2010-01-31 10:00:00
If WWE wants to be sports "entertainment" why haven't they given their stars acting lessons? I've noticed that most of the wrestlers do the exact same thing. The heels all do that corny snarl (that doesn't look scary to anyone) and the faces all do the same s*** eating grin. Look at Randy Orton, how bad of an actor can you be. Who does all those motions and looks and slow head rolls? It's horrible and takes away the realism they seem to want, don't they have a film division now? Can't they get acting coaches? Doesn't their horrible acting take away from the product?

They actually have started giving "promo classes" to the younger talents at TV tapings, with Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon coaching the talents, so that's a start.

Is it just me or does the WWE seem to follow a formula even when it doesn't fit the situation. For example, Christian and Shelton have a great match at TLC without really having a heel in the match. After the match Christian is happy and all but then does a completely heel act of glaring down at Shelton as he is obviously hurt!?!?! Why not go over and check on him? Why not raise his hand as well as a sign that he respects him for what they just went through? Doesn't that seem more like a face thing to do? The two had ZERO issues going into the match, why act like you defeated an enemy?

Christian acted that way because he had defeated an enemy, someone who wanted his championship. While I see your point, in my mind, WWE is going for something with a bit of gray in their characters so you can have babyfaces and heels against each other.

Have you heard anything about the WWE's response to TNA going head to head with RAW in January? Any word on McMahon's reaction to the news, or any kind of response from the company on how to deal with it if they plan to deal with it at all? It seems to have gotten the attention of the web wrestling community, don't you think that will translate into viewers?

While WWE wasn't happy with the announcement and they showed that by bringing Bret Hart in to kick off his storyline on 1/4 Obviously, there were more people watching wrestling but I don't think believe it led to more people watching WWE, but wrestling in general. Now the key is to maintain and grow that audience.

Based on the mail you get from the fans, who are the the top males and females that get the most response from the fans of your site? I ask because recently you had a Q&A questioning why the WWE would do the "Piggy James" thing to Mickie and your response came across like you had received a lot of mail upset that they would do that to her as a person not necessarily a performer. So, who would you say are the stars (both male and female) that are dear to the fans of your site not because of their character but because of the person themselves being someone the fans love?

Of the male wrestlers, it's mostly the older talents like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan and with the current stars, it's John Cena, Edge and Shawn Michaels while with the females, far and away we get the most mail on Mickie James, Molly Holly and Trish Stratus, in that order.

Is Jeff Hardy still under WWE contract being paid while he is going to court or did WWE release him pending the end result?

Neither. Hardy's WWE contract expired last August and he left the company of his volition.
