WWE HALL OF FAME, CM PUNK, PPV PRICES AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2009-12-10 10:00:00

I just read a Q&A asking about Cpt. Lou in the Hall of Fame and you responded "He was inducted in 1996, before the ceremonies were televised and released on video."  My question is, was there an actual ceremony back then and does any video exist?  It seems like those would be great to include on a future DVD release for the hardcore fans.

WWE definitely filmed the events, as they would air clips on their television shows, so I imagine the footage is somewhere.  I agree, it should be released on a future project.

I watched recently a match from the Survivor Series PPV of 2006 that featured Team DX (Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy and CM Punk) vs Team Rated RKO (Edge, Randy Orton, John Morrison, Gregory Helms and Mike Knox) and was really surprised to hear CM Punk getting such a huge reaction from the crowd who cheered for him even louder than for DX or the Hardy brothers. Could you tell me why did he get such support from the fans ? (not that he did not deserve it !)

The reason is because the event was held in Philadelphia, where Punk had a huge following for his work with Ring Of Honor and other Northeast independent companies.  The fans got behind Punk in a big way that night, and it showed to the point that Triple H even acknowledged it on the mic.

Why is the WWE raising their PPV prices when buy rates are already low? I understand they are having less PPV's in 2010 but I highly doubt raising the price is going to raise the buy rate, as a matter of fact I see it lowering the buy rate. Wouldn't it make more since to keep it as is or lower it to increase buys?

WWE is simply going with the attitude that "If less people are ordering the shows, let's get more money out of those that still are" which I like to call "milking the diehards" rather than trying to bring in new fans.

So TNA introduced the Legends Championship and now Eric Young (who I really like what they're doing with him now) changes it to the Global Championship (listed as such on TNA's website), I'm wondering if TNA is going to change the name of it again to maybe a TV title what do you guys think about them doing that?

I'd like to change it to the "Invisible Title" and have it disappear.  I think a World Title and X-Division title is enough without a third singles championship for men.

I just read where all the PPV events for next year are going to be, and I noticed that SummerSlam is going to be in L.A. again.  This will make it the second time in a row that L.A. will host SummerSlam.  Is it going to become an L.A. only event?

That's what WWE's plan is.  The feel by having Summerslam in L.A. every year, they can make it a big annual event, and also spend the week there to make contacts and have meetings with people in the entertainment industry.
