HULKAMANIA TOUR RESULTS FROM SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

By Jason Frazier on 2009-11-29 01:21:04
I went to the show last night for a laugh and thought I’d send in results from the evening.  I have pics as well if you’d like to use them (apologies for no Hogan or Flair pics, the camera batteries ran out the minute Flair walked to the ring!). The results you’ve posted previously were incorrect and were as follows:

“Pimp Fatha” Charles Wright (aka WWE’s Godfather) defeated Sean Morley (aka WWE’s Val Venis). Morley was first to the ring and ‘Double V’ (as he was calling himself) performed his towel gimmick (the one he used to do in the WWE). One of the funniest scenes of the night happened when Morley gestured throwing the towel into the crowd and was looking for an area to throw it into, then decided not to, which earned him loud boos. Morley pointed at himself, to which the crowd booed, then the towel (which the crowd cheered), and he went back and forward for about 2 minutes pointing at himself and the towel, which the crowd booed then cheered. Morley then got on the mike and said, “You guys are freaks!” to which the audience laughed. Very funny.
The match stip was that if Morley won, he could have the Pimp Fatha’s ‘hos’ for free but if he lost, he had to pay triple. Fatha with the win with a rollup.

The next ‘match’ (if you could call it) was The Nasty Boys vs. Rock of Love. The entrances went 3 times as long as the match (which was about a minute) when both teams were counted out after brawling outside of the ring. Terrible (even with low expectations!).

The third match of the night was Heidenreich against Nick Dinsmore (aka WWE’s Eugene but advertised as Vampire Warrior!). Dinsmore with a rock bottom and a two count before Heidenreich got the pin.

Cameras then shot to the back where we saw the Nasty Boys and the Rock of Love brawling, so Jimmy Hart ran to the ring and convinced the referees to restart the match as a no disqualification match. Match continued in typical hardcore style (bar stools, cleaning signs, water cooler bottles, kendo sticks, plywood and cake tins (who cooks in a wrestling ring?)) with Nasty Boys getting the victory. Surreal moment of the night for me was listening to 8 year olds chant, ‘Nastys, Nastys!’.

Before the start of the next match, clips from the Casino ‘press conference’ were shown.  (I can’t believe it was reported as a shoot).

Next Vampire Warrior (aka WWE’s Gangrel) & Black Pearl “The Count of California” defeated Junior Fatu (aka WWE’s Rikishi) & Brian Christopher (aka WWE’s Grandmaster Sexay). OK match. After being defeated, Christopher convinced Fatu to stay in the ring and do their dance (which was joined by the ref who looked like a goof (very funny).

A 15 minute intermission followed (intermission?) then the crowd was treated to a ‘bikini contest. Don’t recall the names of the participants but standard bikini contest hijinks ensued (girls turning on each other then hugging once they’ve wrestled with the ref)

Orlando Jordan then came to the ring and cut a 5 minute promo (which was pretty good!) then ‘wrestled’ Brutus Beefcake in what was an abmysmal ‘match’. Beefcake’s repertoire consisted of punches, clotheslines and sleeper holds (which won him the match (a sleeper hold??? Really??). Beefcake then cut Jordan’s hair which a huge pair of hedge clippers.

Match of the night belonged to Shannon Moore and Spartan 3000 Matt Cross (aka M-Dogg 20) in the third match of their best of three series for $25,000. Spartan with the victory after a reverse shooting star press onto Moore. Spartan was the heel but received cheers for his efforts. Moore also got a round of applause when he finally left the ring.

Uso Fatu (aka WWE’s Umaga) defeated Ken Anderson (aka WWE’s Mr. Kennedy) with the Samoan spike (which was also a pretty good match). Anderson received two-three counts (from the crowd) but at both times the ref was knocked out.

The main event had a surprise of its own that saw Eric Bischoff joining ringside commentary to call the match. It was to be expected – lots of stalling by Flair (who was accompanied by a smoking hot Lacey Von Erich), bleeding by both participants, run ins by all the heels (and Flair chopping Uso to fire him up (which was funny) and saves by the faces, two Flair flops, a figure four and a Hogan big boot (which would have been lucky to reach Flair’s belly button). No leg drop to win the match but a shot to the head with Jimmy Hart’s (who had run to the ring to tear Von Erich’s dress off when she tried to interfere) microphone.

Overall the night was what we expected. My friend and I (who had never been to a wrestling event before) got upgraded to Platinum seats which was a surprise (and an indication of ticket sales perhaps?).

Hope this helps.
