I just read on an MMA message board that Shane McMahon had a meeting with the owners of Zuffa (parent company of the UFC & WEC) about possibly coming on board to work for them and possibly buying the 10% ownership of the company that Dana White stated was up for sale to the "right investor". Just wondering if there was any truth to this. Keep up the awesome work!
What we know is that they have met. Beyond that, it's speculation. Would it shock me to see Shane join UFC? Not at all. He has loved MMA for years and has a lot to offer it. I don't know what his finances are though so I can't say whether he could afford to buy in to the company.
With all the speculation about why Shane McMahon has left the WWF/E, could it be that he is just burned out and fed up with his father, Vince? Could it be that Shane will take this time away from wrestling to spend more time with his wife and kids? I remember Vince badmouthing his father, Vince Sr. , to the point where he said that he could not stand his own father. Could it be that Vince is coming full circle with Shane leaving so mysteriously?
Are all of those things possible? Absolutely. There is a story going around that the two men had a blow up at Titan Towers that led to Shane quitting the company so it's not hard to believe that there are issues though. Also, it's no secret that Vince is not easy to work for. Stephanie Mac has even said as much.
Ok, I've kept silent long enough. I don't get it at all. Everyone seems to have a problem with John Cena main eventing PPV after PPV, yet when Hulk Hogan did it no one said a damn thing. Everyone seems to forget that this is not a new thing for WWE to do. During the times when Hogan wasn't champ who was it that was always in main event after main event challenging for the title, PPV or otherwise, it was Hogan!!! Bottom line is main eventers stay main eventers, like it or not. Sure it might be nice to see a "fresh "face" once in a while but until someone decides to grow a set and step up to the plate and do something about it, that just ain't gonna happen.
First off, a lot of people did complain back then. While the Hogan era was hugely popular for WWE, by the late 80s a lot of fans had turned their back on the phenomenon because it went on way too long. Jim Crockett promotions gained a lot of fans because of it (I know, I was one of them). The fact of the matter is, no matter who is in the top spot after a while it gets old seeing them over and over again. Part of the reason that the Attitude era did the business that it did was that there were so many different guys in the mix at the top of the card, it wasn't just about one guy. The other thing is John Cena is no Hulk Hogan. He's not even close. It's one thing to have one of the all time greats shoved down your throat month after month. It's quite another to have John Cena force-fed to you. One more thing to consider is the frequency of PPVs. WWE did not run monthly in the Hogan era so while he headline every shows, it wasn't 12 to 14 times a year like it is with Cena.
As for guys stepping up, that is not up to them. A lot of guys have tried, only to be buried by creative.
Do you see Drew McIntyre as a legit possibility to be that "future world champion" like Vince proclaimed or will he fall flat like so many others before him?
A possibility? Sure. But it all comes down to WWE pushing him. It's that simple.
Why is no mention ever made of Swagger being ECW champ?
Honestly? Because once you get to Raw, it doesn't matter. ECW is the third tier of the WWE hierarchy, well below Raw and Smackdown. WWE doesn't really care about ECW or what happens there and certainly it doesn't matter to them when announcing on Raw.
