THE ONE THING YOU SHOULDN'T ASK VINCE MCMAHON ABOUT RIGHT NOW, WHAT THE DROP IN BUYRATES TELL YOU, THE MIZ AND MORE

By Dave Scherer on 2009-11-05 14:13:34

If you haven't looked at the WWE PPV numbers released today, you should.  They are very telling of how the WWE fan base feels about the current PPV product.  When the company drops over 20% in buys for one of their four signature shows, there is no good news there.  None.  It is obvious to me that the creative process is flawed and needs to be overhauled.  They can blame the talent all they want but the main factor in play here is that WWE is not telling compelling stories to its fans and therefore less and less of them are buying the shows.  It should be obvious to Vince McMahon.  Buck and I discussed the issue in-depth on the No Name Show if you care to listen.

Speaking of Vince, as I mentioned on my hotline Tuesday, "What is going on with Shane McMahon leaving the company" has become the new Randy Savage backstage.  By that, I mean it's a question you ask the boss at your own peril.  It was pretty clear that Vince is not happy about Shane's leaving given the way he handled the issue on today's conference call.  It could be a bit chilly at the McMahon Thanksgiving dinner table this year.

Frank Wilson reporting. ... In his most recent column, Bloomberg News' John Dorfman endorsed the high dividends of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. stock, but warned they may soon be future endeavored saying, "With a payout ratio of 179 percent, the dividend will likely be cut soon. However, the yield right now is more than 10 percent."  The column can be found at this link.

Brian Fritz did an interview with The Miz, which you can read by clicking here.
