This is regarding the Flair-Highspots financial struggle and NWA Championship belt auction. If Ric Flair is so tight with HHH, Shawn Michaels and others, why wouldn’t they help their dear, dear friend, bail him out and get him his belt back? I would like to think that the two aforementioned men have the money, either individually or collectively, to help their friend. And if they only had a portion of it, why not pass around the proverbial hat and take up a collection? It baffles me that a beloved legend does not have his well-to-do best friends coming to his aid. What are your thoughts?
My thoughts are maybe they are coming to his aid. Buck and I actually posed this very theory on The No Name Show a few weeks back. Highspots has a few interested parties and maybe HHH is one of them. Honestly, I can't believe that there are too many people that both have the means and are willing to spend $75,000 on an old title belt.
With that said, if his friends are not willing to pony up for Flair, I don't
blame them for that either. Flair is a grown man and has spent money
stupidly his whole life. Would you want to buy the belt back for him only
to see him hock it again? And there is also the matter of the awkwardness
of giving money to a friend. Whenever you lend money to someone, it
changes the relationship, and many times things never come back to what they
were. To me, the bigger issue is that Flair is 60 years old and has
nothing because of the way he spent his entire life. That doesn't seem to
a story that will get better as time goes on.
After reading today of Shane-O-Mac’s resignation because “life takes an unexpected turn”, what are the odds of him working on his mother’s Senate campaign bid?
I considered that too. I would think there was a better chance if he had
resigned immediately. But him waiting two and a half months to leave makes
me think that isn't the reason. Also, if that was his intent, I don't see
why he wouldn't have just said that. When Linda resigned, she made it
clear why.
So let's say you were tasked with the job of putting a stable together in the WWE of the most underrated wrestlers on the roster and your stance is "We're done jobbing to lesser athletes!" Who are you picking? I would pick Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero, Evan Bourne, Charlie
Haas and Jamie Noble. And I would have them managed by The Sinister Minister James Mitchell to boot! Thanks!
Here is the problem, with some of those guys the problem is that they have already been booked so badly that it would be really hard for anyone to take them seriously. That knocks out Haas, Chavo and Noble. I like having Shelton and Bourne in there. Throw in Miz, Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger and you have a nice group.
Every time I read about "Shawn Michaels' affinity for losing his smile when it came time to drop a belt." I have to laugh. When did this start? Was it the night he relinquished the IC belt which Razor Ramon won after beating Dean Douglas? How's his smile faring in DX's feud with Priceless. Sooner or later, he's going to have to help push the young guys, especially with their potential (Dibiase is money in the bank).
I
don't remember the exact date (big shocker to those of you who listen to audio,
I know) but it was back when his star was rising in the old WWF. He was
hard to deal with when it came to getting belts off of him. The Shawn of
today is a different man and he does do jobs and put guys over. You can't
even compare the Shawn of yesterday to the man of today.
Do you think it is time for JR to take up the restaurant biz full time? I swear if I have
to listen to him sideways slam WWE, Vince, Cole, King, Grisham, Today's Wrestling,
Today's Wrestlers, Wrestling Sites and his own site readers well I will be forced to name all
three Ultimate Warriors. I've never seen a grownup so bitter about a job when he could
probably retire today and be financially stable as well as have any of a dozen different
employment scenarios. And I can't hold the McMahon's completely responsible, JR ran
talent relations like he was Stone Cold Jr. and burned a lot of his own bridges preventing
a future in management.
I couldn't disagree with you more. I think everything that you said is wrong, every single thing. I respect that he has the guts to make very true observations about the company. If you don't, you don't "have to listen to him". You can just skip reading his blogs.
