WHAT IF ANDRE COULDN'T WRESTLE AT WRESTLEMANIA III, STING'S LAST MATCH AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-09-30 10:19:05
Let's say for a minute that Andre the Giant couldn't wrestle at Wrestlemania 3 because of his back. What would the WWF had done? I don't remember there being another match at that time that could've drawn 93000 people. Therefore, if WM 3 had bombed how would the landscape in the industry have changed over the next several years? Would the WWF not have gone on to dominate PPV the way it did? Would momentum swing back to Crockett or the AWA? Your thoughts please.

Had Andre not been able to make it, my guess is Paul Orndorff would have headlined against Hogan.  I think WWF would have been so powerful by 1987 that even if the show had "bombed", it wouldn't have because the first PPV would have been a huge success anyway just based on being the first one for that technology.

TNA's final pay per view live event Bound for Glory is coming up soon. It was speculated that one of the matches will be Sting's final match. Is Sting indeed retiring from wrestling after Bound for Glory? What are the current plans for Sting's association with TNA after Bound for Glory and 2009?

Even if Sting loses the bout, it won't be his final match with the company but will likely be his last match in his hometown.  My guess is he takes time off then returns to TNA storylines with a new role.

Could someone running against Linda McMahon to become senator from Connecticut use clips from WWE's Raw as a means to paint her in a not so flattering light? Would they require permission from WWE to do that?

They wouldn't require permission from WWE if the clips are being and I deeply expect that they will indeed use WWE as mud to sling.

Realistically how much of a chance does Linda McMahon have in becoming a senator from Connecticut? I'm curious. Is she running as a Republican or a Democrat?

I don't know the political scene well enough to comment on how much of a chance, but she's throwing a lot of money into the race.  She's running as a Republican.

My question concerns the contracts. When The Rock was wrestling and was under contract to WWE, toward the end of his run making movies, he hardly made appearances and the WWE let his contract expire. Was he being paid to not be on the shows during the end of his run? Did he have a set amount of dates he had to appear? I know it was said he was upset they didn't renew the contract, but it was obvious he was not coming back. So would they have paid him for not appearing? If he had no desire to to wrestle, why would he be upset his contract wasn't renewed? Could they have forced him to wrestle if he they did offer one and he did sign the contract?

Rock was paid for every appearance and was being paid his downside guarantee until his contract expired.  WWE has claimed his deal expired without being offered a new one by accident.  Rock was more upset he meant so much and was ignored than anything else.  WWE couldn't force anyone to wrestle if they didn't want to.
