Longtime reader that moved over with you guys from the old Ask1 site. I have watched Lashley come back to TNA and just wonder why he is doing it? I respect the hell out of the guy for wanting to work and make a pay check as he tries to move up the MMA ranks. But how much is he or TNA really benefiting from having him there? They can’t invest in him as a Championship run guy because of his other MMA time commitments. They probably have to pay him a pretty sizable salary compared to the time he can give them. He isn’t bringing MMA fans over to watch the TNA product. He is a good enough worker, not so much on the stick, so you have basically a mid card guy getting a huge push. Again, I am not bashing Lashley here, I think it’s just a matter of he will be a decent wrestler and a decent MMA guy if he chooses to do both onward, but I really can’t see where he or TNA really benefits? Your thoughts?
It's obvious why Bobby Lashley is doing it in my mind. One, it's publicity and an attention grabbing ploy while he's en route to his goal of getting into UFC. Second, it's money to help him finance his MMA aspirations. Third, it puts him back on the radar in the business that put him on the map in the first place. TNA gets to promote a legitimate "two sport" star, has another talent that means something as a "name" and if he continues to win, gets the rub of having a rising MMA name on their roster. Now, whether the experiment will work out with all the positives I've mentioned for all involved, I don't know but I do see the positives in the project.
Whenever the WWE breaks out the metalwork, be it in the form of cages, cells or chambers, the commentators make a big deal about the structures being "career ending" but I cannot recall any wrestler ever having his career ended after a match of that type. Has this ever happened?
No, it's all hyperbole to promote and hype the match.
If TNA were to shut down, which company would be the next 2nd biggest in the U.S.- Dragon Gate USA, Ring Of Honor, Chikara, Pro Wrestling Gorilla or some other?
I would go with none of the above. If TNA shut down, which would be a huge tragedy for the business overall, you'd have a bunch of smaller companies all running on an independent level. I guess based on tenure and their HD Net deal, ROH would be the obvious answer, but I don't believe anyone would step immediately into the number two position automatically.
Every year at TNA's Bound for Glory it's always Sting for the title (and he usually wins) vs. is this his last match/ will he retire. Aren't you guys getting tired of this same thing year after year, isn't this getting predictable?
I wouldn't say I'm tired of it, but I certainly think they've done the gimmick far too many times. We'll see where they go this year with it. My gut is Sting won't capture the belt, but we'll see where the storylines go.
TNA is finally going to show Global Impact 2 soon, so when is the DVD coming out?
There's no official word yet on a DVD release, although one would think that one is certainly on the way.
