SUCCESSFUL U.S. WRESTLERS OVERSEAS, HART TRILOGY, JBL AND MORE

By Buck Woodward on 2009-09-26 10:00:00

To your knowledge what American wrestler, male and female, has had more success in wrestling outside the United States that inside the US? For example: Stan "The Lariat" Hansen. Although known for his battles with Bruno Sammartino he has been very popular in Japan for many years.

Would you like a list?  Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody, Terry Funk, Dory Funk, Dynamite Kid, Bob Sapp, Scott Norton.... there's been many American born wrestlers who have achieved a greater level of success in Japan than in the U.S.

What are the relations to the Hart family for each of the new Hart Trilogy? I think I think I heard that Natalya is Big Jim's daughter, and DH is Davey Boy's son, but what is Tyson?  Are there any other members on the roster they could add to the group?  Also, are they calling them the Hart Trilogy because the PG crowd isn't old enough to remember the Hart Foundation?  Is it just me or does it sound like they are setting up and story where the new team doesn't like the old?

Kidd has no blood ties with the Hart family.  He was trained in the Dungeon by the Hart family, and was a childhood friend of Teddy Hart, David Hart Smith and Nattie Neidhart, and still has a close relationship with them.  I don't see anyone else on the roster being added to the group.  I think the Hart Trilogy name is a way to connect them to the classic group, while not inviting direct comparisons.  I don't see any point in having a story where the "old team" doesn't like the new one, since Jim Neidhart and Bret Hart aren't about to show up and wrestle them.

My question is about JBL and the Tribute To The Troops.  He has been at every one and helped set them up. Do you think he will continue although he has quit WWE?

That's a great question, and one I haven't heard anything about.  I imagine if JBL were to come back for anything, it would be that.  It wouldn't shock me to see him get involved in the tour next winter.

What are the major differences between using actual ropes for ring-ropes like what WWE uses, as opposed to the steel cables that seemingly every other company opts for?

Most wrestlers I've spoken to have said the major difference is that the ropes are much stiffer, with a lot less give than the steel cables, which have more of a "bounce" to their tension.

Secondly, and completely unrelated, when/why did the Small Package turn into the Inside Cradle?

I don't know.  Technically, an inside cradle is the move you use in order to hook someone in a Small Package, and it is only a Small Package if you have both legs hooked (one with your arm, and one with your leg) and the head hooked (with your other arm).  Since it seems a lot of people don't hook one of the legs, I guess it is not a small package anymore.
