John Cena vs. Randy Orton has been done too much... What is next for them? Do you see anyone stepping in to the title picture besides these two? I mean... Honestly... Who else is there? Especially with Batista leaving... Seems we are stuck with Orton/Cena for the rest of the year.
It does seem that way and given the way that they have booked the young guys on Raw, if they have long range plans to break new talent in it's not obvious to me what they are. About the only thing I see on the horizon is Orton winning the title back and having a feud with one of Legacy, while the other guy works against Cena. Thank God for Smackdown.
Why is Impact never aired live? Is the cost that much more? Wouldn't TNA gain at least a few viewers if people didn't all ready know what is going to happen? I only watch Impact and Smackdown after I read the results and see if it is worth watching. I mean the Morrison/Mysterio match made Smackdown 100% watchable (even if I don't get it in HD). It just seems TNA isn't doing enough to try to compete. Maybe at least once a month a live Impact? Maybe get Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair in, just as names, even if they don't do anything? Some weeks TNA is leaps and bounds above the WWE in quality.... But then some weeks it is just... well... stupid... Like RAW 80% of the time. I know this is all just my opinion... But I think I have some valid points.
I see their approach to TV as being very smart. They are able to keep costs way down by taping TV the way that they do. I have never been one to believe that live vs. tape causes a major difference in the audience. Now, if Spike wants to give them more money to do extravaganzas, then I am fine with going live. If not, stay the course and be fiscally smart. TNA already has signed huge names and they haven't translated to more viewers so I see throwing big money at guys for reasons that don't lead to growth in revenue as just being a bad business move. I respect the way they have paid attention to the bottom line. It has put them where they are now instead of being out of business.
Is WWE stupid? That isn't my question... But my opening statement... With the Benoit situation... The suspension of Mysterio.... The arrest of Hardy (even though he was gone from WWE... only for a week though).... Is WWE stupid to promote a drug free, alcohol free human being as a heel??? If the mainstream media really picks up on this Hardy story, wouldn't it be easy to go after the WWE for having a straight edge person be "the bad guy"? The media could spin this as saying the WWE is saying being clean makes you a bad guy.... And in the end could really hurt the WWE... Is that even a thought within the company? Shouldn't they WANT a drug free, clean living person as a top face for the company?
It's hard to argue with what you said, though I am sure Vince McMahon could give it his best effort.
Did Chris Benoit pattern his wrestling style of The Dynamite Kid? I saw some old footage of the kid and they seem similar.
Yes he did, he was a huge fan of Dynamite Kid growing up.
Where do you think the wrestling industry will be in three years from now? Will TNA finally be real competition for WWE? Will TNA go out of business? Will wrestling try to be more of a sport than just entertainment in order to compete with UFC? Or will the entire industry sink to new lows? Will the wrestling industry ever return to how it was during the Monday Night wars? Could there be a third promotion that can give wrestling a whole new meaning and put it on the same level as UFC, not only compete with WWE but beat them consistently?
In order:
*That is impossible to say but I would guess it will be very similar to how it is right now.
*I don't think TNA will be doing 3 ratings if that is what you are asking. They need to get to a 2 before they worry about a 3.
*I think TNA will be around in three years.
*I don't think wrestling will go that route. After all, people who like the realism of UFC will watch that, not worked matches.
*I don't see the industry returning to the highs of the MNW as long as Vince McMahon is in charge. With no one to push him, he won't be open to the outside ideas he listened to when WCW was kicking his rear end.
*There could be, but I have no idea where it will come from. It costs a lot to start it up, plus there isn't exactly a huge glut of top names out there looking for work.
