Someone asked you who would you kick out of the WWE Hall of Fame, and you said that you thought that Rocky Johnson was probably in it as a favor to his son. I actually thought the very same thing for High Chief Peter Maivia, because while most inductees have reputations that precede them, I have never even heard of the High Chief before “Rocky Maivia” made his mainstream debut back in 1996. Can you comment on why you think he may be worthy of a Hall of Fame nod (and whether or not he would have made it if he didn’t have a famous grandson)?
Maivia is definitely deserving. He was a legend in the South Pacific as both a wrestler and promoter. Plus, he was instrumental in bringing people from the islands into the business. I don't know if he would have been inducted if it were not for The Rock but he definitely deserved it.
It seems that the way Edge was taken out of TV due to his injury led all of us to believe that he will feud with Chris Jericho when he comes back healthy. If Jericho and Big Show continue to dominate the Tag Team division (since WWE Creative doesn't seem to help current stables such as Cryme Tyme and the Hart Dynasty), what do you think of a possible Edge and Christian reunion to take on Jericho and Big Show? Edge was Jericho's original partner so it makes sense for him to want the title back and Christian has been great on ECW. This will not only create a new feud for Jericho and Show, but it would bring Christian into a bigger brand and would bolster the Tag Team division. Do you see this being the direction WWE Creative takes with Edge after he recovers from his injury?
First off, a lot can change before Edge returns and let's be honest, WWE creative is not exactly stellar at remembering the past when they book the future. With that said, they definitely gave the impression of a feud with Jericho when Edge left. If Edge comes back a little too soon, then I am fine with them having Christian team with him for a short run if, for example, Jericho does a promo where he says he doesn't have time for singles feuds because he is a tag champ, so Edge "gets himself a partner". But in the long run, Jericho, Edge and Christian are all better off as singles workers. WWE has not been committed to the tag division for years now.
With Batista going to Smackdown does this mean CM Punk and John Morrison are going DOWN the ladder? It seems like Batista is going there to take Jeff Hardy's place (or Mysterio) as the top face (well 2nd behind Undertaker, but who knows how long he will hold up). Do you see Punk and Morrison being hurt by this move? And where does Batista fit in? Unless they keep the belt on Punk after Hell in a Cell.... They certainly won't do a face vs. face program with two broken down guys, would they???
I don't see it hurting Punk at all since he is a heel. Top faces need top heels to work against. They have to build the face side of the card back up and he is better off there than behind John Cena and DX on Raw. I think in the case of Morrison it could go either way. I would like to think that by moving Batista there, if his body can hold up then they can continue to build Morrison up at a steady, slower pace. He can be the start of the Intercontinental group for a while and them move up the ladder. As for Batista, I see him being Punk's next challenger, after Taker.
With Jeff Hardy's arrest....do you think Matt Hardy will be buried?
As I type this on 9/20 it's too soon to say. I think that they will be careful with Matt until they see what happens at Jeff's hearing on 9/30. Given how close the two brothers are, I think WWE wants to see how the entire situation shakes out before they go forward with a push of Matt.
Wouldn't it be smart of the WWE to build a Jericho/Big Show vs. DX feud for the titles? All four are huge names... And it could main event a PPV.
Yep, it sure could. I actually like that idea because it keeps DX out of the title picture. It could also bring some luster back to the tag scene. Jericho could hold up his end for his team to make it a good match as well.
