POST-SUMMERSLAM NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2009-08-24 01:48:20
The finish to the Divas Battle Royal taped for the Summerslam DVD was "special referee" Chavo Guerrero pushing two Divas out to help Beth Phoenix get the win. This led to Hornswoggle laying out Guerrero and then dancing with the babyface Divas. So basically, it's good to be Hornswoggle.

The "fan" run-in was actually listed in the script for tonight's PPV, so everyone involved knew it was coming.

Other celebrity names who were at Summerslam but not shown on camera included Arsenio Hall, Tito Ortiz (no way they were showing him), Jenna Jameson, record mogul Rick Rubin (who once financed Smoky Mountain Wrestling), Piers Morgan and Lemmy of Motorhead.

Nancy O'Dell, who made a cameo at Summerslam interviewing Freddie Prinze Jr., posted pictures of herself with various WWE superstars on her Twit Pic page and also on a Facebook album.  Thanks to Tom Ketwig for sending along those links.

Devin Cutting sent the following....Holly Montag from The Hills and I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! was sitting among the fans at Summerslam. Madison sent the following live notes from Los Angeles:

Just got back from Summerslam and wanted to pass on some notes.  I actually got to see Orton and Rey Mysterio arriving to the arena.  Both guys were really cool.  Rey was of course very fan friendly and Orton played up his gimmick but kept smiling at the fans.  There were a group of kids, probably about ten or so, who were starting the RKO chant and he walked over to them real slow like and them smiled and gave all of them a high five.  It was real cool.

Also, before I was about to leave I saw Shane McMahon.  He was with some other guy I didn't recognize. Some fans noticed him and you could see him motion to security and point to them.  Next thing you know security are being real jerks to the fans.  These were kids probably about 13- 14 years old.  I have no idea what Shane said, but he seemed like a real jerk to me.  Very self smug and fake in a sense.

The live show was great.  My section was "hot" but we were in the upper sections.  Most heat was probably Regal, boring chants during the divas match and Legacy.  Mixed reaction was Orton, Cena (most seemed to be pulling for Orton at least in my section) and Ziggler (which was surprising).  Biggest pops were DX (HBK specifically), Jeff Hardy and The Undertaker (of course).  Overall a pretty good night.  The fans left happy with the arrival of the Undertaker and everyone was talking about "the fan", which looked kind of real live, but fake when they got him out of the arena.
