4/27 COLLISION REPORT

It is Saturday and AEW Collision is live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville FL. 

Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness.

Swerve Strickland comes to the ring to start the show. He runs down the new champions and then talks about Jack Perry attacking Tony Khan. He says for the Elite to beat up a non-writer, it’s a bitch move. He then says the most important thing is that he won the title and is now the best in the world. 

He then talks about missed things with his children that he had to deal with to get to where he is today. He then says he is putting the title on the line with an Open Challenge.

Cluadio Castagnoli’s music plays and he comes out in a suit. Claudio tells him he’s on. Swerve accepts and they will be facing over later tonight.

We then get a recap video of Jack Perry and The Elite attacking Tony Khan. Tony Schiavone says that Tony Khan will be running AEW from Jaskconville as he is not cleared to travel. 

The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin and Colton Gunn) Unified Trio Champions vs Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin) and Action Andretti

White and Dante start off and go quickly to running the ropes and White gets a shoulder tackle. White and Dante trade shots in the corner, and after a few chops and kicks, White gets a dragon screw. White tags to Colton and he and Austin hit a quick tag and double team moves. They keep working over Dante with quick tags. 

Darius gets a blind tag as Dante dives to the floor. Dairus runs wild and Andretti gets a bit dive as well. Darius gets a flatliner on Austin for two. Darius follows Austin to the outside and White clotheslines him on the floor as we go to picture in picture. 

When we return to full screen, Darius is close to getting a tag, but the Gunns pull Andretti and Dante off the apron. White gets in chops and he tags in the Gunns, who miss a charge in the corner. Darius makes it to tag in Andretti who cleans house. All six men end up fighting in the ring, and after things are cleared out, White crotches Andretti on the top. It's’ then time for each person to get a finisher on the last person to get in the ring. 

Andretti gets a series of kicks on White, but when Andretti comes off the tropes with a backspring back elbow, White catches him and hits the Blade Runner for the pin and the win.

Winners and still Trios champions: The Bang Bang Gang.

The House of Black now says that the match with Adam Copeland went exactly as they wanted it would.  They say they accept the Cope Open, but they won’t say which member until it’s time to wrestle. Tony then says it will be Buddy Matthews, so…

Rey Fenix vs The Beast Mortos

Rey is returning after a hip injury and Mortos has been on Ring of Honor for a while. Rey works over Mortons in the corner and Mortos is able to grab Rey and throws his own chops. They run the ropes and Mortos ends it with a power slam. Morton hits a tornado dive onto Rey on the floor. Mortos then works over Rey in the corner. Rey gets a series of kicks and Morton gets a spiking bulldog. Morton drops Rey with a lariat for two. 

Mortos gets a leg capture and hits a twisting toe hold and hangs onto it on the mat. Rey gets a rope break and rolls to the floor. Morton attacks Rey on the floor and runs him into the ring post. Rey is rolled into the ring and Mortos covers for two. Mortos keeps going for Rey’s mask while working him over on the mat as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Rey fights out of a fireman’s carry and Mortis hits a head butt. Rey starts to fight out of the corner, gets a hurricanrana, and the tiger feint kick for one only. Rey goes back to kicks and fights to get a side slam, but finally gets a gut buster for two, hurting his own knee. 

Rey leaps onto Mortis’s shoulder and kicks Mortis in the head. Rey comes off the second rope and Mortis nails him with a spear as he tries to attack. Rey is up first and is able to knock Mortis to the floor. Rey hits a tornado dive from the top onto Mortin on the floor. In the ring, Mortis hits a lung blower on Rey and a back slam for two. 

For a big return, Rey is getting beat down hard.

Rey gets a series of thrust kicks and then a running PK kick on the ropes. Rey hits a frog splash for two. Rey is able to get a forward rollup for the pin and the win.

Winner: Rey Fenix

In the back, Arkady Aura is with Orange Cassidy and he says he is thinking about how Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor are fighting in a parking lot tonight. Kris Statlander shows and says “He needs us” and they leave.

Rush vs The Already In The Ring Martin Stone

Rush beats down Stone outside the ring, shoves a chair in the ring and then uses the cables to whip Stone as the ref gets the chair out of the ring. They return to the ring and Rush gets  the bull’s horns for the pin and the win.

Winner: Rush

In the back, Serena Deeb is with Arkady and says that she is undefeated and it’s now or never and she has to win the title now. 

Timeless Toni Storm (AEW Women’s champion) w/Mariah May and Luther vs Anna Jay

They lock up collar and elbow and then break when neither has an advantage. They then trade arm bars. Toni grabs a side headlock and then Anna reverses it. Storm gets a side headlock takeover and they break again. Anna gets a spin kick followed with a snap mare on Storm. Storm then gets a Thesz press and three hip attacks. Anna goes to the apron, and Storm hits a hip attack, mocking May down.  Storm helps her up and Anna is able to get a neck breaker in the ropes as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, both women are down after they hit a double head butt into each other. Storm gets a backstabber and a DDT. Storm gets a fisherman’s suplex with a bridge for two. Anna gets a back kick and a Gori special for two. Storm gets a sit down slam for two. Anna gets a flatliner and follows with a Queenslayer. Storm powers to her feet and falls backward to break the hold. 

Storm hits the hip attack in the corner and Storm Zero for the pin and the win. 

Winner and still AEW Women’s Champion: Toni Storm

In the back, Chuck Taylor tells Orange Cassidy not to interfere, he needs to do this on his own. 

The Grizzled Young Vets (James Drake and Zack Gibson) vs The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) w/Billy Gunn

Caster starts with Gibson and they move quickly to mat wrestling. Drake tags in and they run the ropes with Bowens getting a blind tag. Bowens gets a neck breaker into Caster’s backstabber for one. Bowens gets a series of chops and Drake hits back. Gibson tags in and takes over. Caster tags in and they double team Gibson for two. They start to run the ropes and Drake gets a blind tag. They double team Caster and then knock Bowen off the apron. 

They go to picture in picture and when they return, Coaster has been kept in the ring with quick tags. Caster dodges an attack when whipped out of the corner and Bowens is tagged in and he runs wild. Bowens is nailed hard and Caster gets a blind tag. They hit the shiver me timbers and a double slam on Drake. Gibson holds Caster in the corner and Drake leaps into him. Bowens has to take on both of the Vets, but they hit a lung blower in the corner and Drake hits a coast to coast drop kick for two. 

Gibson tags in and the vets get in Gunn’s face. Caster is able to knock Drake to the floor, and they hit the Arrival and the Mic drop for the pin and the win.

Winners: The Acclaimed

Shibata is with Arkady and he challenges Shane Taylor Promotions. Daniel Garcia shows and says he will fight by his side and Shibata, via his phone, says to save the last dance for him. 

It’s time for the main event:

Swerve Strickland (AEW World Champion) vs Claudio Castagnoli

They lock up and Claudio forces Swerve to the corner. He breaks clean and backs off. Swerve picks the leg and they trade waistlocks. Claudio turns it into a front chinlock. Swerve works out and they go to a greco roman knuckle lock. Claudio takes Swerve down and gets a series of two counts with the hold. They trade monkey flips and two counts. They keep the hold and then get to their feet. Swerve turns it into an arm bar and both try to stomp on each other’s hands, and miss. 

They run the ropes and Claudio gets a rollup for two. They run the ropes again and Claudio gets a tilt a whirl backbreaker for two. Claudio clotheslines lines him to the ramp and they fight to the stage. Swerve gets a hurricanrana on the ramp and then clotheslines Claudio into the ring. Swerve hits a frog splash from the top. Swerve hits a pair of reverse neckbreakers and holds on to hit a third in the ropes. 

Claudio gets a break on the floor and then trade shots on the apron when Claudio tries to get in the ring. They fight on the apron and Claudio grabs Swerve and tosses him into the stage as we go picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Swerve gets a big kick to lay out Claudio on the apron. Claudio goes to the floor and Swerve gets a kick from the apron and rolls Claudio into the ring. Swerve gets a flying elbow from the top. Claudio gets an uppercut. Swerve gets a flatliner for two. Swerve gets a hip toss and Claudio gets an uppercut. Swerve gets a flying fist for two. 

Claudio rolls to the floor and Swerve follows. Swerve charges and Clauduio tries to toss him into the stage, but Swerve lands on his feet and hits a moonsault from the stage.Claudio is rolled into the ring and goes to the top. Swerve gets a 450 from the top for two. Claudio picks the leg and then gets a stomp of his own. They trade uppercuts and and then Swerve moves to body shots and kicks. Claudio gets a clothesline and both men are down. 

Swerve gets a stalling vertical suplex and then goes to the top. Swerve hits the stomp for two. Swerve goes for the House Call and Claudio catches him for the giant swing. He then goes for the sharp shooter and Swerve gets the crawl to the ropes and Caudio switches to the cross face. Swerve rolls onto his back to get a two count.

Claudio gets a series of blows and gets the running forearm for two. Claudio sets for the Gotch style piledriver and Swerve escapes out the back and hits a DDT. Swerve slowly goes to the top and goes for a stomp, but Claudio catches him and hits an uppercut for two. Claudio gets a series of blows in the corner. Swerve is able to get a backslide for two. Swerve gets a German suplex and Swerve comes off the ropes and leaps up for a Swerve stomp followed by the house call for the pin and the win.

They shake hands and now, on to Rampage!
