BRYAN DANIELSON VS. NICK JACKSON, HAIR VS. HAIR & MORE AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2021-10-01 23:45:00

It’s Friday, and we are in Rochester, New York at the Blue Cross arena, taped after Dynamite on Wednesday. Our commentary team is Excalibur and Taz.  A two man booth tonight.

Bryan Danielson vs Nick Jackson w/Matt Jackson and Brandon Cutler

Bryan starts by chasing Nick around the ring and Nick backpedals. They go to the corner, and Nick pops Bryan over the ref as the ref is trying to break them up and he starts with the advantage. Nick leaps off the apron and shows off and Bryan leaps out of the ring into him and brings him back in. Bryan then starts to work with a shotgun dropkick and kicks. He then locks in the surfboard, and as he is locking it on, he reminds the ref he has five.

Bryan moves to the dragon sleeper and Nick pokes him in the eyes and they trade blows. When Nick has an advantage, he goes to the top and misses.  Bryan locks in an arm bar and Nick gets to the ropes for a break.  Bryan then starts working over Nick’s arm and tries to keep him grounded.  Bryan is able to cut off any attempt at a comeback by Nick.

Bryan does a leap into the corner, and Nick gets out of the way, making Bryan drop to the mat. He is rolled out where Matt starts pounding on him as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to the big screen, Nick starts kicking Bryan in the chest and he slowly sees that Bryan isn’t being fazed by them and asks for more until he gets to his feet and then works on Nick in the corner. He then returns the kicks to Nick who doesn’t take it as well as Bryan did.

Jackson is able to recover after a near fall and then gets a superkick on Bryan and a two count. He goes to the top and tries a 450 splash, but misses and Bryan tries to get the Lebell lock, but Nick is able to get to the ropes for a break. Bryan starts landing kicks on the apron, but Nick gets out of the way and Bryan kicks the ring post.

Nick takes advantage by pressing his attack and dropping Bryan out of the ring. Nick hits an pescado and takes Bryan into the ring for a sharpshooter. Bryan is able to crawl to the ropes and trolls out of the ring. Nick goes to kick Bryan, and Bryan ducks causing Nick to kick Brandon Cutler in the face and Bryan is able to hit a German suplex on the floor.

He rolls Nick into the ring and then knocks Matt off the apron. Nick takes advantage with a superkick.  Bryan is able to grab Nick and brings him to the mat, nails him with a series of hammering elbows. Bryan locks in Cattle Mutilation and Nick has to tap.

Your winner: Bryan Danielson.

A clash of styles that delivered a good match.  Bryan forced Nick to slow down and fight on his level instead of doing a lot of high flying stuff.  Bryan dissected Nick, and showed a lot of mat work and joint work.  Go out of your way to watch this one.

The Elite start to circle the ring, and that brings out Christian Cage and Jurassic Express who come into the ring and everyone attacks.

Except Kenny Omega, who bails.

Adam Cole gets locked in the snare trap as the crowd chants loudly, Kenny No Balls.  Kenny rushes the ring and Bryan locks him in the Lebell lock.  They release the holds and our babyface team is standing tall. A set up for text week’s multi-man match.

In the back, Powerhouse Hobbs and Hook introduce a video where Ricky Starks says he is much better than Brian Cage from his expensive house and as he drives in his expensive car.

Ricky Starks then joins the commentary team.

We go to a pre-tape from CM Punk who says he was able to beat Hobbs through experience. He says it is time for him to get down to business. When you step up, naptime is always on the menu.

Jade Cargill w/Mark Sterling vs Thunder Rosa vs Nyla Rose w/Vickie Guerrero

Rosa is working the start with kicks on both of the others in the ring, and Jade Cargill is knocked down so that Jade and Nyla can work. Rosa is knocked down for Cargill and Nyla jack jaws and then trade blows. She is able to stop Rose with a kick, then preens for the crowd before knocking Rose out of the ring.  Rosa hits a drop kick and we go to commercials.

When we come back, there is a trash can in the ring and a table outside the ring. Rosa is in charge and sets the trash can on Jade. Rosa leaps into the can, covers Jade and gets a two before Rose interrupts the count. Jade recovers and hits a spinebuster on Rose, which did look impressive. Rose puts Cargill in a single leg crab, interrupted by a kick from Rosa.

They brawl a bit and go to the apron, and tease someone going through the table. They go to the top and Rosa slips out and power bombs Rose through the table. Rosa struggles to get Rose into the ring. Jade is given a chair by Mark Sterling and she batters Rosa with it. Jade covers Rosa and gets the three count.

Your winner: Jade Cargill

Rosa holds the match together and Jade Cargill surprises Rosa to get the win, but the match itself was just OK, no great shakes.  Cargill hitting the Spinebuster on Rose was impressive, and Rosa always is so smooth that what she does looks great.  However, it's more building Jade Cargill into a monster and giving her heel tactics to win.

We then get a pre-tape from Malakai Black in response to Cody’s segment on Dynamite. He says Cody still won’t do what is necessary. He says he hopes the black mist consumes him. He then says he is done with the Nightmare Family and he has other people he needs to collect his toll from.  Not the best promo, and Black moving on from Cody seems a bit clumsy.

Mark Henry has the pre match interview where he says that Jack Evans seems reluctant to be in the match. Matt Hardy speaks for him and says he is ready to shave Orange Cassidy bald. Orange Cassidy says he isn’t sure what is going on.

The time for talking is over. It’s time for the main event

Orange Cassidy vs Jack Evans in a hair vs hair match

Evans goes for a quick roll up and then Evans tries to grab him by the hair and Cassidy escapes. He does the light kicks after Evans misses a leaping cross body. Cassidy is able to get a backslide and a two count.

Taz is making a lot of comments about how awful Evans’s hair is including “You never know what’s in Evans’s hair.”

Matt drags Cassidy out of the ring while Evans is talking to the ref and drops him, and Evans continues to attack with kicks as we go to the small screen. Evans and Matt keep up the attacks on Cassidy on the small screen.

When we are back on the big screen, Cassidy is able to hit topes on Hardy and then Evans. The fight goes back to the ring. We get a series of near falls from each guy. Evans goes to the top for a sky twister and Cassidy dodges it.  Cassidy hits a DDT and then goes to the top for a diving DDT and a two count.

Hardy calls for Butcher, Blade and Bunny to come from the back. As they start to come to the ring, the  Best Friends form a line by the ring to stop them. Hardy brings out the rest of the Hardy Family Office and the Dark Order shows up.

In the ring, Cassidy hits the Orange Punch and covers for the three count.

Your winner: Orange Cassidy.

Angelico goes to help Evans, and he gets taken out. Hardy tries to send the team to the ring, and they refuse. Matt Hardy says he is sorry, but this is for the greater good.  Cassidy chops off Evans’s pony tail and Wheeler Yuta takes over to shave Evans’s head. Negative-1 comes into the ring and is given the pony tail to use as a mustache as the Best Friend hug in the ring.
