MAE YOUNG CLASSIC EPISODE 5 REPORT: THE SECOND ROUND STARTS, MARTINEZ VERSUS SUGEHIT, LAITH VERSUS EVERS, NIVEN VERSUS DEEB, AND SANE VERSUS BELAIR

The second round of the Mae Young Classic starts with sixteen women remaining in the single elimination tournament.  Which four women will advance into the quarterfinals?

We are at Full Sail University and your announcers are Lita and Jim Ross.

We see the sixteen women who remain in the tournament on the stage.

Abbey Laith says she has been traveling around the world and wrestling for eight years and now she is in WWE.  She says it is a crazy feeling to make it to the biggest stage.  Abbey says she will do what it takes to win.

Rachel Evers says this is a big moment for her.  It will allow her to show what she can do.  Opportunity came knocking.  She is not afraid of Abbey.

We see Kassius Ohno at ringside for this match.

Match Number One:  Abbey Laith versus Rachel Evers

They lock up and Abbey with a wrist lock take down.  They lock up and Rachel throws Abbey to the mat.  Abbey misses a round kick but she kicks Rachel in the leg and gets a near fall.  Abbey with a clothesline to the back of the head and then she uses the ropes for leverage on a wrist lock take down.  Abbey with a suicide dive onto Rachel.

Abbey sends Rachel back into the ring and gets a near fall.  Abbey with forearms but Evers with a stunner and back senton for a near fall.  Evers with chops and forearms followed by an STO.  Rachel with a springboard corkscrew leg drop for a near fall.  Abbey goes for an O’Connor Roll but Rachel holds on to the ropes and hits a bicycle kick.  Both women go for bicycle kicks and both go down.

Rachel and Abbey exchange forearms until Abbey gains control and hits a series of kicks.  Abbey goes to the turnbuckles but Rachel with a forearm to stop her.  Rachel goes up top for a power slam from the turnbuckles but can only get a near fall.  Abbey with a power bomb and Alligator Clutch for the three count.

Winner:  Abbey Laith (Advances to face winner of Mercedes Martinez versus Princesa Sugehit)

Jim Ross and Lita discuss the two year hiatus that Serena Deeb had prior to the Mae Young Classic and if it will be a factor.

Serena Deeb says she is more dangerous than anyone else because of her experience.  She says she will work harder than anyone else.
Piper Niven says it is about being badass but also having a smile.  She likes to bring her aggression to the ring.  Some are shocked at her agility in the ring.

Serena says she never underestimates her opponent.  This is the culmination of what she has achieved.

Match Number Two:  Piper Niven versus Serena Deeb

They lock up and Deeb tries for leverage to back Niven into the corner but Niven backs Deeb into the turnbuckles.  Deeb with a forearm out of the corner.  They lock up and Niven sends Deeb into the turnbuckles.  Deeb with a side head lock and she tries for a take down but Niven does not go over.  Deeb tries to wear Niven down with the head lock and she tries for a slam but Deeb collapses under Niven’s weight and Niven gets a near fall.

Niven with a chin lock.  Deeb with a rollup for a near fall.  Deeb with a side head lock.  Niven picks up Deeb in the head lock and hits a belly-to-back suplex and then hits a cross body splash for a near fall.  Niven goes for a back senton but Deeb gets her knees up.  Deeb with a side head lock take down using the turnbuckles for extra leverage.

Deeb with jabs to Niven followed by a roundhouse and she goes for a monkey flip but Niven puts Deeb on the turnbuckles.  Deeb with a punch and she sends Niven into the turnbuckles.  Deeb with a Codebreaker and slam.  Deeb with a kick and neck breaker for a near fall.  Deeb tries to get Niven on her shoulders but she cannot life Niven.  Niven with a cannonball into the corner.  Niven goes for a slam but Deeb with a snap mare driver for a near fall.  Deeb charges into the corner but Niven moves.  Niven with a forearm and Irish whip that sends Deeb sternum first into the turnbuckles.

Niven with a Vader Bomb but Deeb kicks out.  Piper goes to the apron and then climbs the turnbuckles.  Niven misses a splash when Deeb rolls out of the way.  Niven with a Michinoku Driver for the three count.

Winner:  Piper Niven (Advances to face winner of Toni Storm versus Lacey Evans)

Princesa Sugehit says being in the tournament is important for her career. 

Mercedes Martinez says it is about time the world can see what she is about.  She will do whatever it takes to get to the top.  She will take everyone by storm. 

Sugehit says she will destroy Martinez.

Martinez says she only needs one shot to advance.

We see Kalisto in the crowd.

Match Number Three:  Mercedes Martinez versus Princesa Sugehit

They lock up and Sugehit with a waist lock but Martinez with a drop toe hold.  Sugehit with a rollup for a near fall.  Sugehit with a hammer lock into a take down.  Martinez gets a near fall.  Sugehit with an arm wringer but Martinez with a clothesline and punches.  Martinez with a European uppercut followed by an Irish whip.  Sugehit with a rollup that sends Martinez head first into the turnbuckles.

Sugehit with a cannonball for a near fall.  Sugehit with kicks but Martinez with a side slam for a near fall.  Martinez with a suplex and she holds on for a second one, and then puts Sugehit on the middle rope for a swinging neck breaker and a near fall.  Martinez with forearms but she misses a Yakuza kick into the corner.  Sugehit with a Codebreaker.  Martinez puts Sugehit on the turnbuckles after blocking a monkey flip attempt.  Martinez with punches and she goes to the turnbuckles to try a superplex, but Sugehit blocks it.  Sugehit drops Martinez to the mat and then hits a tornado DDT.

Sugehit gets a near fall.  Sugehit with La Mistica and she applies a Fujiwara Arm Bar.  Martinez rolls Sugehit over to get out of the hold.  Martinez with a kick and Fisherman’s buster for the three count.

Winner:  Mercedes Martinez (Advances to face Abbey Laith)

We go to Charly Caruso in the Control Center. 

Bianca Belair says she is a woman of beauty and strength.  There is nothing better than her.

Kairi Sane says she wants to inspire people.  She says she wants to give power and strength to people.

Belair says she does not see Sane as a threat, she is just a competitor.

Sane says she wants to leave her stamp on all of the competitors.

Match Number Four:  Kairi Sane versus Bianca Belair

Sane backs into the corner and avoids Belair.  They lock up and Sane escapes.  Sane with a waist lock but Belair with a standing switch and take down.  Belair with a side head lock and shoulder tackle.  Belair with a handspring over Sane and hits a shoulder tackle.  Belair blows a kiss and Sane catches it and stomps a mudhole into it.  Sane with a running drop kick for a near fall.

Sane blows a kiss to Belair.  Sane with forearms and a waist lock.  Belair sends Sane to the mat and then Belair whips Sane with her hair.  Belair with a biel and clothesline for a near fall.  Sane with forearms.  Sane with a guillotine but Belair escapes. Belair with a knee to the midsection followed by a delayed vertical suplex while doing squats and she gets a near fall.  Belair with a full nelson cobra clutch and she slams Sane’s head into the mat.  Sane leans back to get a near fall.  Belair with a double chicken wing gourdbuster for a near fall. 

Belair with a forearm to the back and Belair continues to work on the back.  Belair with punches and she goes for a splash but Sane gets her knees up.  Sane with a series of double sledges followed by chops in the corner.  Belair with an Irish whip but Sane with a forearm off the turnbuckles for a near fall. 

Sane with a straitjacket Camel stretch into a straitjacket.  Belair with a snap mare and power slam for a near fall.  Belair with forearms.  Sane with forearms and Belair fires back.  Belair with a spinebuster.  Belair goes up top and hits a 450 splash for a near fall.  Belair misses a splash into the corner and hits the ring post.  Sane with an axe kick and a sliding D into the corner.  Sane with a spinning back fist and then she goes up top and hits the elbow drop for the three count.

Winner:  Kairi Sane (Advances to face winner of Dakota Kai and Rhea Ripley)
