VISITORS AT SUMMERSLAM, WHY THE ARENA WAS EMPTY EARLY ON AND MORE LIVE NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2017-08-21 10:10:00

For those of you wondering why the early matches on the Summerslam Kickoff show were held in front of such an empty venue, the Barclays Center didn't open the doors until after the Kickoff show was on the air.  Unlike the night before at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, the venue's security was very tight, with only some of the doors opened while the Barclays staff used a system where they were only letting 20-30 fans into each door to the lobby before stopping the flow and waiting for the majority of those fans to get through security.  They were also requiring fans to show tickets before they could even get into the doors.  It was a long, grueling process.

It appears most of Cesaro vs. the beach ball was not caught on camera, but the Raw Tag Team champions sprinted and vaulted over the barricade to get the beach ball from security, who had confiscated it and were taking it out of the venue before ripping it up himself.

Visiting at the show were Hamilton creator and Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Robot Chicken creator and actor Seth Green, rapper The Future and actors Brenda Song and Macauly Culkin.

Shane McMahon's sons were sitting in the first row for his segment, wearing identical referee shirts like the one Shane wore.

Dani Garcia, the head of the Rock's Seven Bucks Productions was at the show with her and The Rock's daughter.

Dana Warrior was also there with her daughters.

Nothing of note went down after the PPV went off the air.

WWE were selling "Brooklyn 3:16" t-shirts.

I noted that at Takeover: Brooklyn, WWE was selling a lot of main roster merchandise.  Last night at the PPV, they were not selling any NXT merchandise.
