COMPLETE ROH WAR OF THE WORLDS - LIVERPOOL COVERAGE

By Stuart Carapola on 2017-08-19 15:47:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live coverage of ROH War of the World: Liverpool!  The show will be streaming live on the Fite app!

Ian Riccaboni and BJ Whitmer welcome us to the show, talk about the historic ROH moments that have taken place in Liverpool, run down the top matches, and then throw us to the ring for our opening match...

"Hangman" Adam Page vs Kenny King

Fast paced start with neither man gaining an advantage, then they brawl to the floor.  Page takes over with a moonsault off the barricade, then they head back in the ring where Page does an over-fancy springboard eye poke.  King plays babyface-in-peril for a few moments until hitting a spinebuster for 2.  Page takes right back over with a neckbreaker to the floor, but then King fires back up in the ring again after Page makes the mistake of spitting at him.  King kicks Page to the floor and takes him out with a dive, then dumps Page back into the ring and hits the springboard blockbuster for 2.  Series of back and forth combinations until Page hits the slingshot lariat for 2.  King escapes the Rite of Passage and connects with the Royal Flush for the win.

Winner: Kenny King

Great opener, I'm glad King is finally getting his shot as a single.  He's deserved it for years.

Ultimo Guerrero & Rey Bucanero vs Mistico & Titan

Ultimo and Mistico statt us off, and they do a bunch of lucha sequences until Titan dumps Ultimo to the floor and goes for a dive, and Ultimo CATCHES HIM!  Nice.  He tosses Titan back into the ring where Bucanero goes for the mask, but doesn't manage to get it off.  Instead, they line Mistico and Titan up on the barricade outside the ring and Bucanero connects with a Stinger Splash into the barricade.  Titan is in peril in the ring as he winds up on the receiving end of a series of power and size-based moves, including Ultimo doing a turnbuckle headstand into a Bronco buster in the corner.  Titan finally connects with an elevated dropkick and makes the tag to Mistico, who cleans house with a barrage of fast-paced lucha offense.  Mistico counters a pop-up powerbomb from Ultimo to a Frankensteiner for 2, but a top rope Frankensteiner attempt results in Mistico eating the mat.  He quickly recovers and hits a superkick in the corner, tries the super Frankensteiner again, and Ultimo counters to a top rope powerbomb for 2.  Titan is back in with a springboard crossbody for 2, followed by a springboard dropkick to Bucanero for 2.  All heck breaks loose until Ultimo drills Titan into the mat with an inverted superplex for the win.

Winners: Ultimo Guerrero & Ray Bucanero

Wow, hell of a finish!  This was great when the big guys slowed it down, and nice big man vs little man dynamic.

Jay Lethal vs Josh Bodom

Back and forth sequence to start, and Lethal quickly puts Bodom down with a neckbreaker.  Bodom rolls to the floor and Lethal preps for the dive, Bodom tries to block it, but Lethal sees him coming up and hits a baseball slide.  Lethal connects with a springboard dropkick to knock Bodom back to the floor, but gets dragged out and Bodom goes for a dive...and Lethal gets in the ring to block that and winds up on the receiving end of a flying headscissors and a leaping enziguiri.  Bodom covers for 1, then unloads with some strikes for another 2.  Bodom with a snap suplex and a standing moonsault for 2, but Lethal with the hiptoss/dropkick combo for 2.  Lethal slams Bodom and hits a short elbowdrop for 1.  Lethal with a series of hard chops to Bodom in the corner, then he goes to the top for a double axhandle, but Bodom dodges and hits an Alarm Clock, runs into a big boot from Lethal, and then Lethal connects with a leaping enziguiri.  Bodom counters a Lethal Injection attempt to an inverted Frankensteiner that sends Lethal to the floor.  Bodom connects with a dive through the ropes, followed by a springboard moonsault.  Not much room there to be doing that.  Bodom rolls Lethal back into the ring and heads to the top for a double stomp to the back of the head, followed by a running shooting star press for 2.  Bodom puts Lethal on the top rope for a back suplex, Lethal elbows him off, but falls backward into the Tree of Woe.  Bodom is up and quickly takes advantage with a corner dropkick.  Lethal ducks a clothesline and hits the Lethal Combination, then goes to the top and hits Hail to the King for 2.  Lethal goes right into the figure four, trapping Bodom right in the middle of the ring.  Silas Young comes down to ringside as Bodom gets to the ropes, and Lethal gets distracted when he sees him, allowing Bodom to get an O'Connor Roll, which Lethal reverses to one of his own for 2.  Lethal Injection finishes Bodom.

Winner: Jay Lethal

Silas Young runs right into the ring as soon as the bell rings and they trade punches, with Young getting the better of it.  A gaggle of referees run in to stop Silas Young and herd him to the back.  Terrific match, this was my first time seeing Bodom and I was impressed.  Bodom stands by Lethal and sees Young off, then helps Lethal to his feet and shakes his hand before heading to the back to give Lethal his moment.

The show continues on Page 2!
