Eli Drake captured the GFW championship during tonight's Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando, Florida, winning a 20 man Gauntlet to name the new champion after Alberto el Patron was stripped of the championship. Eddie Edwards was the final competitor eliminated.
Drake, real name Shaun Ricker, 34, is a former WWE developmental talent who was featured in Dwayne Johnson's TNT reality series The Hero several years ago. Ricker had been a regular on the California independent scene, including Dave Marquez's Championship Wrestling from Hollywood before signing with WWE.
The match will air next Thursday on Pop.
