Why did Christian retire?

WWE decided that they would not medically clear him following a series of injuries, including several concussions.

I recently went to a WWE show in Bridgeport, CT because advertised, on the Arena website was Shinsuke Nakamura challenging Jinder Mahal for the WWE title.  Now, I realize this was a house show and there was no way that there was going to be a title change but thought it was ultracool that Nakamura was going to fight for the belt.  The night of the show, Jinder wrestled Styles.  While I was happy to see Nakamura live for the first time, I was let down by the match change.  How does WWE get away with changing the show like this?

WWE changes the lineups for their live events on an almost-weekly basis.  As has been the norm for generations, most (if not all) advertising for WWE, lists the phrase "card subject to change."  That change happens at their whim, for any reason, but in most cases, happens because they are trying to build what they believe would be the best live event for that weekend.  That's likely what happened here.    It's an unfortunate deal, but they were within their rights of doing so.

What was Bruno Sammartino's final official match?

Bruno teamed with Hulk Hogan against King Kong Bundy and the One Man Gang on 8/29/87 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Has anyone ever made their Wrestlemania debut in the main event?

Off the top of my head, I can think of are everyone in the main event of Wrestlemania 1 (Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff), Sycho Sid (Wrestlemania 8), Yokozuna (9), Jim Cornette (10), Lawrence Taylor (if he counts, 11) and Brock Lesnar (19).  In the future, there may be others.

Was "Walking Tall" the inspiration for Hacksaw Duggan carrying the 2x4?

I've never been told that but it certainly makes a lot of sense.
