MAKING SUMMERSLAM LIKE WRESTLEMANIA, WHY PUSHING JINDER MAHAL MAKES SENSE, APTER IN THE HALL OF FAME AND MORE

I know that WWE is trying to get into the markets in India, Pakistan, etc. Is that why there is a push for Jinder Mahal after all this time?

That is the word making the rounds.  It’s smart on their part.  If they go to India, it makes sense to have a top Indian star and Mahal has never gotten a real chance to show what he can do.

Since I have never seen Nakamura wrestle, and based on the crowd response to him, I am anxious to see if he lives up to the hype. But can you tell me...what is "strong" style?

It is the Japanese style of approaching wrestling as if it’s a combat sport, with stiff blows, kicks and strikes.  Kind of like an MMA version of wrestling.

Do you think WWE would ever consider Bill Apter for it's Hall of Fame at least for his contributions to professional wrestling?

That is an interesting question.  I wouldn’t have any problem if they did.  Obviously he would be the first wrestling scribe to get in if they chose to do so, but I don’t know if that is something that they have any desire to do.  At this point, I would guess they wouldn’t induct him, or anyone else from our profession.

Do you think WWE will ever make Summerslam like Wrestlemania and have it at a stadium venue year to year?

I think they would love to if they could, for sure.  I think they would have to be pretty confident that they sell it out, or come close.  18,000 in an arena looks a lot better than 38,000 in a stadium on TV.  Given the state of the product now, I don’t think it’s the time.  If they can heat things up and get some lost fans back, they may explore doing it then.

Quick question with regard to Roman vs. Braun dues since both have injuries wouldn't have made more sense to keep them both off of TV for another week of two to sell the injuries?

In a vacuum, yes.  The flip side is that with them needing to get eyeballs on Raw, they have that master to serve as well.  And it’s no secret that viewership has eroded since WrestleMania and a part of that is due to the fact that both guys that headlined the biggest show of the year, Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar, have not been on TV.  Taking more star power off of the show is a tough call to make when you need to keep your TV partner happy.  The revenue that is generated from USA has to be considered as well.  Now if it’s me, I would tighten up the booking to get more eyeballs on the show, but that is another discussion altogether.
