SHOULD 205 LIVE MOVE TO FULL SAIL, FANFEST CANCELED, LAST MINUTE SUBSTITUTES CHANGING PLANS, WWE TOURING AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-05-04 10:00:00

Should they move 205 live to full sail where the crowd might actually care about the product and be away from Vinny Mac's band of terrible writers?

Unless the company wants to start adding a separate taping for 205 Live at Full Sail, I say no.  While 205 Live's performers are stuck working in a hard environment, having to follow Smackdown, as long as WWE wants to broadcast the show live, it's the nature of the beast.  If WWE ever moves forward with doing NXT live weekly, I'd love to see them have a system where they broadcast NXT live and tape 205 Live for the next night air the show on Thursdays.

Any idea why the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest was canceled.  I had been waiting for them to announce talent and hotel info and planned to drive up from Florida to NC.  Any idea what went wrong?

Not at this juncture.  I had written promoter Greg Price last month asking what I could do to start to cover the event and help get the word out, as if has annually been my favorite weekend of the year since 2004 and never heard back.   All we know is that the announcement was made.  Hopefully all is well with him on a personal level.   I know it's a big labor of love for Greg, so for the event not to take place has to been extremely disappointing for him personally.  It really sucks it won't be happening but I wish him the best.  I would advise that when he announces his next event, you try to make the trip then.  I certainly intend to.

Where is Brent Albright today?  He seemed very talented in the ring but he never got off the ground running.  When he went to Ring of Honor I thought he would have a bright future there?  Where did things go wrong?

The word I always heard on Albright was that he made the decision to leave the business to concentrate on his family.

Hi. When is John Cena due back on SmackDown Live? You reported that he wraps up filming his latest movie in June. However, I noticed that he isn't advertised for any of the summer shows, including SummerSlam. In fact, the next show he's advertised for is Survivor Series? He can't be out for that long? Any word? Thank you.

There is no current timetable for his return.  When he has time and is able to do it, he will be back.

It seems as if though the WWE only holds its PPVs in markets such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Houston, Boston and to a lesser extent San Jose, Phoenix, San Antonio, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Cleveland, Columbus (OH), Atlanta, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Nashville , Memphis and Detroit but never in Seattle, Portland, Buffalo, Kansas City, Denver, Oakland, San Diego, Austin, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Tucson, Las Vegas and Hartford (as evidence by the WWE deciding to move that PPV to Dallas). Is it because places like Seattle and Hartford don't draw as well as Dallas or St. Louis?

It is because they utilize venues and markets they feel will support the show.    A lot of it also has to do with routing.  If they run Seattle for a PPV, where do they run Raw and Smackdown?  How are they getting the staging to that market?  Major markets have shown they will support the shows and have markets that are close in proximity that can then support the following shows AND be close enough to handle the set up and break down for the crew.

I read where Karl Anderson said that all of the other wrestlers in the Tag Team Ladder Match at Wrestlemania only found out of the Hardy Boyz's return a few hours before the match. In this case, or any other case where there is a last minute replacement to someone in a match, how do the wrestlers involved prepare? I understand that they call spots on the fly in the ring and they are professionals, but still. A ladder match requires a lot of choreography and one mistake could lead to serious injury without practicing the spot.

There is no choreography in pro wrestling.  They call the spots and they might work out a few spots in the ring before hand, but the idea that there is a complete, choreographed scenario is wrong.  When there is an addition or a change, they change their plans and start from scratch.  They probably had bullet points worked out that afternoon so that production could be ready for what was planned but beyond that, it's work hard, hope for the best and be as safe as possible.
