HARDY DOES NOT WRESTLE, DREAMER SHUFFLES THE CARD: 4/21 HOUSE OF HARDCORE IN METUCHEN, NJ RESULTS

By Bill Bodkin on 2017-04-21 23:52:00

4/21 House of Hardcore in Metuchen, NJ report

Tommy Dreamer came out to address the crowd. He said Matt Riddle was not there because he double booked himself but since yesterday was 4/20 he forgave Riddle.

It should also be noted that Robbie E who was not even listed was not there as he was wrestling in Japan.

He said in Philly he would do the first House of Hardcore "State of the Union" which address talent issues and WWE. Someone in the crowd booed and Dreamer said that deserved a boo but more on that later.

There was a 10 bell salute to former WWE Star Rosey who passed this week.

Those in attendance but did not appear on the show were Brooke Adams, Ashley Massaro, Christy Hemme and Beulah.

Results

Bull James beat TJ Marconi.

Rhett Titus beat Action Ortiz.  Solid match with Ortiz channeling seemingly Bam Bam Bigelow throughout the match with a bunch of agile big man spots. Titus played the arrogant heel.

Six Man Tag: Pat Buck, Devon 'Crowbar' Storm and Little Guido beat Vic Dalishus, Hale Collins and Justin of The New Heavenly Bodies.   Little Guido got a big reaction from the crowd and he worked his butt off during the match both in terms of technical wrestling and comedy. Buck and he hit some trademark FBI spots to pop the crowd. Buck seemed to be having a ball in the ring. Storm was in sparingly but hit a beautiful top rope rana. Collins and Dalishus worked well together -- bright future ahead of them. Very fun match.

Alex Reynolds beat Matt Striker.  Absolute sleeper match of the show. This was the best I've ever seen Striker in the ring. He was absolutely brilliant in the ring and Reynolds was able to hang with him. I really hope we can watch these two wrestle some more because they have dynamite chemistry.

Brian Cage beat MVP.  These two beat the holy hell out of each other. Cage hit all his trademark spots: Lucha destroyer, discus clothesline, moonsault, etc. MVP, as always, was a striking machine (pun intended). Crowd was strangely quiet for such a strong match. Cage won with a discus lariat.

Sami Callihan beat Bobby Fish.  Match of the night. This was originally going to be be Sami vs. Bully Ray but things changed. Fish and Callihan goofed around in the beginning of the match by having portions of the arena cheer 'Wrestling!' at various points. Once the gaga was over this was a stiff, intense fight. For every chop and boot Sami delivered Fish retaliated with a devastating kick. These two just went after each other with absolute ferocity and it was worth the price of admission to watch this match. In the end Sami made Fish tap to the Stretch Muffler.

Delete Street Fight: Broken Matt Hardy vs.  Tommy Dreamer.   Hardy came out to a monstrous pop but everyone seemed to know something was up. Hardy cut a vintage broken promo on Dreamer until Mikey, Kenny and a third unidentified member of The (Spirit) Squad came out.   They ran down Dreamer and Hardy and said their boss Vince told them to delete the match. Mikey threw powder in Matts eyes and beat him down. They then threw their attention to Dreamer.   This brought Bully Ray out. He cleaned house and then challenged the Squad to a street fight. He then called them 'Ziggler's Bitches,' which got a major pop.  Hardy was nowhere to be found after the beat down.

The street fight was a vintage ECW plunder match. The third member of the Squad came in and helped his team gain advantage. This brought out Velvet Sky who nailed the third member. She was grabbed by Kenny but The Sandman's music hit to a huge pop and despite Sandman having hernia surgery the day before, he hit the ring and cleaned house.   Dreamer and Bubba hit 3D for the win.

Post match, Bully put over the crowd and Dreamer. Tommy apologized to the crowd for all the card shuffling and reiterated his point about the HOH state of the union in Philly. He mentioned signing talent to one day contracts to avoid situations like this. He also mentioned politics getting in the way and WWE. He thanked the fans and sent us home.

Overall a fun night of wrestling -- and even though there were changes, House of Hardcore delivered the goods.
