CONFRONTING HHH, NEVILLE'S TURN, HERO IN RUMBLE?, HEYMAN MANAGING OTHERS BEYOND BROCK AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2017-01-28 10:00:00

I have seen some outlets play up that you "confronted" Triple H on the latest media call?  Is that what you really did?  If so, why?

I don't know why someone would say I confronted him.  It was a media call where he was taking legitimate media questions about a number of topics including the UK tournament.  A story that has come out of that tournament is the talent being pulled from shows there.  So, I asked him, respectfully, what happened there and when he gave me his answer, I followed up.  There was no confrontation, it was simply me, as a reporter, doing my job.  There's no malice behind that.  It's how things are supposed to work.  I give HHH credit for even being open enough to put himself out there to promote WWE in that forum.  I agree with a lot of what he has done within WWE, but at the end of the day, I'm on the call to ask questions that our readers would deem important.  Based on emails from readers in the UK and beyond in that region, this was a hugely important question to ask and it was within the parameters of what he was discussing on the call, so I asked it.  That's all.

What are the odds Chris Hero debuts not in NXT but in the Royal Rumble?  His segment at the NXT TV taping was a dark one...so it could happen, right?

I don't know about odds, but he's under contract to the company and is in Texas, so certainly it's within the realm of reason.  I just don't know if that would be the right place to debut someone cold.

Who is responsible for Neville’s character change? I wish WWE would book more heels the way theyve booked him recently. He seems cunning, vicious and most of all... dangerous. He’s been knocking it out of the park on his part, but the booking has been strong. I wish guys like Owens or Rollins were booked that way because it would make the top of RAWS card more edgy and compelling with a mic of personalities. Not just  cowardly heels and bland babyfaces. I just wish I could rationalize Vince booking 195lb Neville the buzzsaw and 300lb Owens the coward.

I haven't heard a specific person that pitched the turn but Vince McMahon has been extremely hands on with 205 Live, so my guess is we are seeing a by product of his edits and visition with Neville.  Neville is doing an awesome job in the role, for sure.

Does WWE have a working relationship with ICW in the UK?  I am surprised this was not addressed in HHH conference call.

Yes.  The two sides have been working on a deal to bring the promotion to the WWE Network.

Has there been any talk of putting Paul Heyman with someone else past Wrestlemania when Brock goes back into hibernation?

Not that I have heard.   Heyman with other talents beyond Lesnar and CM Punk has never really worked out creatively for some reason.  The Cesaro thing a few years back just never clicked and a pitch to put him with Alberto Del Rio last year when ADR returned was eventually dropped and changed to Zeb Colter.

Do you think we'll ever see Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk again?

Honestly, probably not, not unless one day the two, when they are older, decide to do something on their own.
