Former WWE Divas champion Mickie James is backstage at tonight's Smackdown Live taping in Memphis, TN. So, she could be returning to WWE TV as soon as tonight.
The former WWE Women's champion returned to the company for the first time in six years at the WWE NXT Takeover event in Toronto, losing a great match to Asuka. From the second she arrived in Toronto, internally it was considered just a matter of time before the company locked her into a deal again.
PWInsider.com reported last month that James signed a two-year deal with the company and that the plan since then had been to bring her onto the Smackdown brand.
James, 37, had a great run with WWE including a tremendous Wrestlemania 21 bout against Trish Stratus. Since leaving WWE, she had recorded a country album, began work on a second release, married former TNA champion Nick "Magnus" Aldis, gave birth to their son and worked consistently in TNA and around the world on the independent scene, including Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore.
Given the La Luchadora storyline, it appears an unmasked may be upon us.
