Welcome to PWInsider.com's ongoing coverage of Impact Wrestling: A Very Hardy New Year!
We start off at the Hardy Compound with Vanguard-1 getting drunk off of Senor Benjamin's mojitos, then Matt tells us that it's time to reflect on the year that was 2016. Queen Rebecca leads us in a rendition of the 12 Days of Deletion, then Matt tells the Scribe that the Seven Deities will reveal the gender of the new Hardy Offspring.
On to our first flashback, as Matt lost the finals of the World Title Series to Ethan Carter III. We go to commercial, and come back to Senor Benjamin defeating Vanguard-1 at chess, but Vanguard-1 doesn't care as long as he gets lit. Matt asks Queen Rebecca and King Maxel if they're excited to learn the gender of the new Hardy Offspring, then Senor Benjamin asks Vanguard-1 if he's up to a little walk. Vanguard-1 goes with Matt and Senor Benjamin, but is too drunk and crashes. Senor Benjamin manages to cover for him, then tells him to get it together.
Time for our next flashback, to Matt putting his career on the line in exchange for another shot at EC3 and the TNA World Title in a Last Man Standing match. Matt brutalizes EC3 with a chair, causing him to bleed from the mouth, then uses a wrench from Reby's diaper bag and interference from Tyrus (who was EC3's bodyguard at the time) to hand EC3 his first loss and regain the TNA World Title.
Matt and his crew knock on Brother Nero's front door, but he's not there, so Vanguard-1 does a sweep of the property to find Brother Nero. He finds Willow, and Matt asks him where Brother Nero is, but instead he gets Itchweeed. Matt says he needs Brother Nero, not Itchweeed or Willow, and Itchweeed says he will summon him. This brings us to the I Quit match between Matt and Jeff, which culminated in Matt becoming BROKEN after Jeff hit him with a Swanton off the steps and through a table backstage. Next up is Jeff's victory over Matt in Full Metal Mayhem at Slammiversary.
We move on to the Final Deletion, where Matt claimed victory over Jeff to claim sole ownership of the Hardy name, forever DELETING Jeff and leaving only the obsolete mule, Brother Nero, in his place. Back to the present, as Matt takes Jeff back to the Dome of Deletion and describes what he did for Jeff by taking away everything that he is, and makes him roll the table he put him through into a pile of rubbish outside. He says that Brother Nero has repaid his debt and helped him reclaim the tag team title. He rewards Jeff by restoring everything he had taken from him, and offers him the ability to reclaim everything, even his name. He brings Vanguard-1 over to restore his essence, and has the seven deities set the relics of their past ablaze in front of their eyes.
On to Delete or Decay, as the Hardys successfully defended the Hardy Compound against the encroaching forces of Decay, and thwarted Rosemary's attempts to make off with King Maxel. We then flash forward to Slammiversary, where the Hardys followed that up with a victory over Decay in the Great War to claim the TNA World Tag Team Title. We then go back to Matt and Brother Nero...Jeff Hardy standing by the blaze, and Matt asks Jeff whether he'd like Matt to have a boy or a girl. Jeff says that if he has a boy, it'll be the next generation of the Hardys, the greatest team in all of time and space, but either way, Matt will be blessed!
Finally, we wrap the year up with Apocalypto from Total Nonstop Deletion a few weeks ago where the Hardys defeated about 372 other teams to retain the TNA World Tag Team Title and claim their destiny as the greatest team in all of time and space after Crazzy Steve got shot out of a volcano.
Finally, we go back to Cameron where Matt has a stupendous PREEMONITION! The Seven Deities are about to reveal the gender of their child at the volcano, which...explodes blue smoke! It's a BOY! King Maxel has a brother! The next generation of the Hardys are here, and Matt declares that Vanguard-1 will be the child's godfather!
