Hi, first time sending a question. I was wondering if you could give a little information about what to expect from New Japan World if I were to subscribe and how you actually watch it? I had never heard of NJW until a few weeks ago in your column and have always been fascinated with Japanese wrestling. Thanks!
When you sign up, you can watch older events, including specific matches that you can bring up by searching for a specific talent and documentary-style material. They also live stream a number of major events. You can watch them on your computer or stream to some mobile devices. I usually watch the streaming events live on my iPad. The website is in Japan, but has an option to use Google translate to turn it into English. It's not a perfect translation but it's more than good enough to work around the website. All of the commentary is in Japanese, with the except of events where Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino are brought over from the United States. At $9 a month, with the differences in foreign currency, I love the service. 20 years ago, I was tracking down underground Japanese videostores in New York in order to find shows after they took place and now I can watch them live. I can't recommend it enough.
Is TNA's deal with challenge coming to an end a big deal? On the press release it said... "Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. is a global sports media company that operates Fight Network, Impact Wrestling's exclusive broadcaster in Canada, as well as the exclusive worldwide digital streaming partner for all TNA programming." Does this mean we will see a TNA Network soon? If so will this work in UK as this was on a free channel?
Challenge has already announced they were dropping TNA TV as of January 2017. Fight Network intends to launch their own streaming channel that will include the TNA library.
Do you know whether 205 Live will be presented similar to the CWC or will it be more of a produced show ala Raw and Snackdown? If produced, will Vince be involved or will it be a Triple H project?
The belief among those I've spoken with is that the show will be closer in vein to the CWC but with regular, ongoing storylines. The belief is Triple H will be overseeing the show.
If Dixie Carter is no longer in charge of TNA, how can she still be 92.5% owner?
You can still own it while letting others run it. The belief is that once the Billy Corgan situation plays out, Anthem will purchase the majority ownership.
What is CM Punk doing post-UFC?
I believe he is still technically under contract to UFC, but there has been no sign of him fighting again. It's possible he is working on outside projects, but there's no indication as to what those may be.
