The last time Cody Rhodes and Stephen Amell tangled, the stage was Summerslam, Rhodes' home turf. Tonight, the two face off again, this time on Amell's TV series "Arrow" on the CW Network and once again, Rhodes will be the villain. Amell portrays Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow on the series.
Rhodes will be portraying Garrett Runnells, a drug dealer who based on previews for the episode, has super-powers.
The synopsis for the episode notes: "Green Arrow is forced to battle new drug dealer Garret Runnels, who is terrorizing Star City, after Wild Dog strikes out on his own to take the dealer down but quickly learns he's not up to the task."
Amell, a lifelong pro wrestling fan, petitioned on social media for a long time to get involved with WWE, noting he would even wrestle if they let him guest-star on Raw. This led to him doing several angles with Rhodes, who at the time was performing as Stardust, leading to a Summerslam 2015 bout where Amell teamed with Neville to defeat Bad News Barrett and Stardust.
"Arrow" is based on DC Comics' Green Arrow character and is in the midst of it's fifth season. The show has been popular enough over the last five years to launch three spin-off series, so if Rhodes' character survives the episode, it's possible he could pop up down the line on not just "Arrow" but one of the other connected series.
