Charlie Haas was my guest on The Match Beyond podcast this week. In his only podcast appearance, Charlie goes over his entire career, including all the details of his runs in WWE and Ring of Honor. Charlie comments on such topics as:
WWE firing him & his wife Miss Jackie right after their honeymoon & if WWE frowns upon in company relationships like Paige & Alberto Del Rio: "It's almost as if they don't want you to succeed as a couple, or if they don't think you deserve to be together, then you shouldn't succeed. I think we got punished for getting married and then they fired us."
Was Team Angle ever close to signing with TNA before going to ROH: "TNA wasn't offering any money. At the time, 'well how much is ROH gonna offer you?' Well that's not how it works. How much are you offering us and we'll tell you if we're going. 'Well no, you tell what they're offering and we'll match it." No, that's not how it works. So Shelton said, 'absolutely not, we'll just go to ROH.' So that's what we did."
What happened at the end of his ROH run that led him to leaving: "There was an altercation backstage with another wrestler. Let's just say cooler heads could've prevailed. I think when the altercation took place, I didn't like the way that management that was there favored that wrestler, but on my part, I should've reached out to Joe Koff the COO. I had that conversation later and he said we could've talked about it, I didn't have to quit on the spot. You can't go back in time though and change things."
Does he want one more run with Shelton in WWE: "Here's my deal. I'm not gonna give up my job, which is not a job, it's my career. I've got four kids. I've got great benefits. I've gotta have my kids taken care of. Because you never know what happens. They're athletic, they play sports, anything can happen. With the wife too, and me. I could not give up this career just to go back for one more run and to know that in five years I'll be back to where I am now."
