WHAT HAPPENED AFTER RAW WENT OFF THE AIR, BIG ADVERTISED NAME NOT IN BROOKLYN AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-08-23 01:37:00

After Raw went off the air in Brooklyn, NY, John Cena and WWE World champion Dean Ambrose teamed to defeat the team of Seth Rollins and AJ Styles after Ambrose pinned Rollins with Dirty Deeds.  The crowd, not realizing the Smackdown talents would be there, chanted "This is awesome" before the bell had even rung.  It will be the last Raw taping featuring Smackdown talents in the dark match to close out the show as Smackdown will begin running Monday evening house shows next week.

Interesting to note that locally advertised on the Barclays Center website was an appearance by Shane McMahon, who did not appear on the taping or even in a dark segment.

Set for next week's Raw is Colin Cassady vs. Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins to crown the new WWE Universal champion.  The announcement live at Raw that they would crown the champion next week (as opposed to in Brooklyn) totally killed the crowd after they had to see Finn Balor relinquish the champion.  A good portion of the audience did not come back to life until Bayley's debut.

The Cruiserweight division debut on 9/19 will be the Raw broadcast from Memphis, TN.
