Why did they change Enzo's line from "bonafide thug" to "bonafide stud?"  Is the word "thug" not PG enough?

Thug doesn’t exactly have the family friendly connotation that WWE is looking for.

One of my fondest memories of watching wrestling in the late 80's/early 90's was Vince McMahon's commentary.  Who can forget his classic one liners such as "what a maneuver!" or "baaaack body drop!"  Yet the announcing duo of McMahon & Ventura is seldom mentioned among the all time great duos.  Do you think Vince was underrated as an announcer, and do you consider them in the same class, or a step behind, the all time great duos such as Gorilla/Brain and JR/King?

It depends on what you are looking for in an announcer.  Vince as a play by play guy vs. Jim Ross?  No contest to me from an actual calling of a match standpoint.  But if you look at it from an entertainment standpoint and getting the product over as he envisioned it, Vince was good in that standpoint.  To me, he was always over the top and funny.  He was fine for calling squash matches.

How does your staff at PWInsider secure interviews with the wrestlers?  Do you have to gain permission from the promoters the wrestlers are signed to, or do you get to ask them individually?  How do you normally gain access to interviews with freelance talent?

Sometimes we solicit the interviews, other times they are offered to us.   We contact the freelance talent.

I am curious what you think of the Ryback situation. That is, from what I have read that he wrote about the pay structure, he does have a point, although it is not b&w, there are other things to be considered. And with you having such knowledge in the business, and being so straight up, I was just wondering what your take on it was.

I agreed with everything that he said except for the fact that everyone should be paid the same.  That isn’t true or fair.  A breakout top guy deserves more money since he draws the crowd.  But the rest of what he said, I agree with.  If the company uses a talent badly, it puts that person in a bad position when it comes to negotiate his new deal.  If the company knows a mid-carder has a contract coming up in six months and cuts back their push, when it comes time to talk money the company has put the person in the position to be worth less.  I see his point.

Why did they have Roman stop coming in from the crowd?  Too many variables/risks involved?

It think it was more that he was getting booed so badly that it just didn’t make sense to do it anymore.
