WHY WWE PPVS AREN'T IN MSG, LUCHA UNDERGROUND, RODERICK STRONG AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-08-12 10:00:00

Do you know why WWE doesn't do Raws, Smackdowns or PPVs at Madison Square Garden anymore?

It's cheaper to run them in Brooklyn because of the costs associated with running the venue, but my guess is that at some point, they will have TV or a PPV at MSG.  Last year, The Barclays Center did a great job of showing WWE that they wanted to be in business with them and the costs of running there (origination fees, rent, venue % of merchandise sales, etc.) are currently in Barclay's favor I am told.  WWE is not alone as a lot of touring acts have taken to running Barclays over MSG in recent years.

Any word on where Roderick Strong is likely to end up? I see that's he's given farewell addresses to both ROH and PWG. And I have read that WWE, TNA, and NJPW have all shown interest to varying degrees. Where would you like to see him go? And where do you anticipate him ending up?

My belief is that WWE is the most likely place, but until a deal is signed and sealed, anything can happen.

If WWE truly won't suspend Lesnar because he's a "part time" competitor...doesn't that punch a major hole in their wellness policy making them look bad to media and Wall Street? Does this mean that guys like triple H, Shane, Undertaker, and Vince are also not tested? How can they not test Lesnar when they fired Billy Gunn who wasn't a competitor at all when he tested positive in outside competition? The whole explanation just sounds so absurd on WWEs part.

It does make the Policy look foolish.  Shane McMahon is a performer, so if he's considered "full time" he would be under the sphere of the policy, but my guess is that he is not.  Undertaker would fall under part-time for sure.  Triple H is not likely to be regularly tested while McMahon is absolutely not tested - he has said such in the past.  They fired Gunn because he was a Coach who got caught using PEDs while he's supposed to be overseeing talents who are supposed to perform and excel without them.

Did my eyes deceive me or did a NWA Legends show end with Ricky Morton and Bobby Fulton's children headlining a show?  Why did this happen?

They did not.  Ricky Morton was the booker of the show, so my guess is it was his idea.

Are there any plans to release Lucha Underground to DVD, whether by season or compilation?

I haven't heard anything about DVD plans but they have released the seasons via iTunes and they are certainly seeking other means of streamin distribution.
