TNA NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2016-07-25 10:39:00

Set for this Thursday's Impact Wrestling:

*Bound for Glory Playoff Semi-Final: Drew Galloway vs. Mike Bennett.

*Bound for Glory Playoff Semi-Final: Matt Hardy vs. EC3.

TNA began airing their latest One Night Only PPV "World Cup 2016" over the weekend.  Just like their previous ONO PPV, there was absolutely no promotion for the PPV on their website or even social media.  I ranted about TNA doing the same on an Elite audio a month or so ago (the next day, they promoted the show on their social media).  I decided to wait a few days to see if the company would do anything without an outside source noting it, but nothing was done to promote the show, which debuted on PPV on 7/22 outside of the FITE App promoting the event themselves.  I am completely amazed and flabbergasted that TNA, in their current state, doesn't even bother to try and promote the events.  While it's not like the ONO events are anything close to major moneymakers for the company, I just will never understand the mindset of not promoting material that you own, so there is at least an attempt to earn some money from the events.   I'm not saying the company should be devoting huge chunks of commercial time on Impact to pushing the ONO shows as if they are major cornerstone events, but if the audience has no idea they are taking place, no money will be derived from them - and if you aren't going to try and make money from them, what the hell is the point?  The last time I ranted on this, I was told that the ONO PPV wasn't promoted because the company was split into different locations as they moved their HQ.  I didn't believe that was a valid reason then and it certainly isn't one now.  I get that the shows are more important to the international markets, but to just drop a show out there without any sort of promotion on your website or Youtube page just comes off as lazy and in 2016, TNA can't afford to be lazy about anything.  The job of a wrestling promotion is to promote themselves.  TNA needs to do that.

Matt Hardy's social media has been absolutely off the charts lately.  Here is a great example:
