HIDEO ITAMI IN ACTION - 7/21 NXT RESULTS FROM LAKELAND, FL

By Andrew Twiss on 2016-07-21 23:00:00

Here are full results from NXT Live in Lakeland, FL on 7/21

Charly Caruso is the hostess and ring announcer for the evening.

- Niko Bogojevic def. Patrick Clark - A surprisingly fun opener. Clark was full blown heel here (and wearing different gear than he showed on tv). He was doing everything to antagonize the crowd and trash talk Niko. Clark was in control for the most part until Bogojevic used his size to his advantage and hit a Vader Bomb for the win.

- Daria Berenato and Mandy Rose def. Aliyah and Liv Morgan - Another solid match. Aliyah is improving in the ring and has some nice flying arm drags in her arsenal. Mandy really has that star potential and the in ring work is starting to get there.

- Hugo Knox def. Steve Cutler - A solid if unspectacular match. Cutler works really well as a heel and has a lot of the little mannerisms down. Not as much flying out of Knox compared to what I'm used to seeing. Considering the low ceiling of the building, it may be better he stayed grounded.

- Mojo Rawley def. Riddick Moss - This was actually pretty entertaining. The crowd was totally into Mojo, chanting "You Deserve It" in regards to his call up. The first part of this match was Mojo using atomic drops to hurt and humiliate the Moss, who is so good at being the arrogant heel. Moss eventually used dirty tricks to get the upper hand before Mojo made the big comeback.

- Asuka def. Billie Kay to retain the NXT Women's Championship - A good match out of these two. They actually really laid it into each other. It's nice intensity for a house show.

- Charly Caruso brought out one of the newest NXT recruits, Danielle Kamela out for an interview. Kamela cut a pretty basic promo about how the ring is her home and that she's coming for the NXT Women's Championship. She noted that she broke her hand a week before reporting to the PC, but overcame that. She also made not of the fact that Rikishi trained her. It was pretty standard stuff, but these interviews always struggle in front of crowds that aren't familiar with them.

- No Way Jose def. Josh Woods - The crowd is totally into Jose. He got one of the best reactions of the night. The match itself was mediocre. It went a little too long and at times it looked like they were struggling to stay on the same page.

- Hideo Itami and TM61 def. Buddy Murphy and The Authors of Pain - A solid main event. Murphy is using new theme music. Murphy was selling every arm bar with his over the top screams. The Authors are beasts in the ring, although there are absolutely times where their inexperience shows. They can sometimes lose their placement or lose the flow of the match. The positive for them is that they love to rile up the crowd and it helps the match. Hideo looked good in there and pinned Murphy for the win.

Notes:

- Niko Bogojevic is a former amateur wrestling standout who did some training and worked independents in Colorado. You might remember him as the big guy that did The Worm on an episode of Breaking Ground.

- Danielle Kamela is a trainee of Rikishi and originally auditioned for Tough Enough. She has also been an NFL cheerleader and NBA dancer.

- Meet and Greet before the show was Daria Berenato, Gabriel and Uriel Ealy.

- NXT returns to Lakeland on September 29.
