HIDEO ITAMI RETURNS, AUSTIN ARIES, SAMOA JOE AND MORE: 6/30 WWE NXT IN WINTER HAVEN, FL LIVE REPORT

By Andrew Twiss on 2016-07-01 00:47:00

Here are full results from NXT Live in Winter Haven, FL on June 30, 2016.

Mike Rome and Charly Arnolt are your hosts and ring announcers for the evening.

- No Way Jose def. Josh Woods - The crowd loves No Way Jose. He has the energy that just gets a crowd going for his entrance. Unfortunately,  the match itself was pretty clunky and never found a real rhythm. Luckily, it was pretty short and the crowd was happy Jose won.

- Oney Lorcan def. Dan Math - This was a pretty fun match actually. It was a lot of the bigger man, Matha, bullying around the smaller man, Lorcan. It was pretty hard hitting and aggressive and got the crowd into it. Matha is a big man who moves pretty well and is already comfortable performing in front of a crowd. He's an intriguing prospect who grows as a performer every time I see him. Good stuff from both.

- Andrade Cien Almas def. Steve Cutler - A solid match. There were a couple of awkward spots in the middle, but they were able to get things back together. Almas used a Dragon Sleeper as his finisher in this match. It works better than the double knees.

- Ember Moon def. Billie Kay- Another fun match. Billie looked much better compared to her first match back. Ember Moon is going to be a big hit once she makes it on tv. She just moves so well in the ring. I hope to see more from these two down the line.

- American Alpha def. The Authors of Pain - I liked this match. These two have a solid chemistry, especially with the Authors being relatively new to big matches. This had some good amount of time. I never get tired of seeing Jordan and Gable suplex these two big men either. It always looks impressive.

- Bayley and Aliyah def. Mandy Rose and Daria Berenato - A decent match. Aliyah did a lot of the heavy lifting for the good girls while Bayley was there for the hot tags. The ending was clunky, as Bayley went for the Bayley to Belly and Mandy lost her footing and just fell down before Bayley could lift her. Bayley picked her back up to hit a cleaner finish for the win.

- Mike Rome brings out Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton. The two talked about not being here to wait around any more. They are here to take what they want. Pretty standard stuff. I did enjoy the fact that they kept calling Mike Rome "Tom".

- Austin Aries def. Mojo Rawley - Mojo is over huge with the crowd and Aries got some solid heat for ragging on the crowd before the match. The match itself was ok. A lot of it was Mojo using his size until Aries attacked the leg. Mojo tried to make the comeback, but his injured leg hampered him. Aries eventually got the win by rolling Mojo up and putting his feet on the ropes.

- Hideo Itami and TM 61 def. Tino Sabbatelli, Wesley "The Beautiful Body" Blake, and Samoa Joe - A really fun match. Hideo was on fire. He went all out in the first few minutes, including a segment of he and Joe just kicking each other in the face. Everybody else looked fine, save for some awkward moments with Shane Thorne and Blake where they couldn't get on the same page. Still, it's good to have Hideo back. He looked great and seems ready to step right back in.

Notes:
- This is the second straight show where NXT had advertised someone would be at the show to sell tickets and that performer wasn't there. A few days ago, they tweeted that Carmella would be teaming with Bayley against Daria and Mandy. Carmella was not at the show, as she tweeted she was in Key West. Something similar happened with NXT at the previous Saturday's show in Cocoa Beach, where they had previously advertised an appearance by Finn Balor, who did not appear. In both instances, NXT deleted the initial tweet advertising those appearances, but never issued any statements correcting the previous advertisements. They really need to be careful going forward with who they advertise and with alerting the ticket buyers when a change like this occurs.

- Tonight marked the NXT debut for Charly Arnolt in a ring announcing and hosting capacity.

- The meet and greet before the show was: Daria Berenato, Mojo Rawley, and Steve Cutler

- NXT returns to Winter Haven on August 4th.
