OTT A Matter of Pride, June 25th, Tivoli Theatre Dublin.
Pete Dunne defeated El Ligero
This opener may have been the match of the night. This was a really crisp match with lots of great near falls from two of the best in the UK at the minute. Ligero flew around, while Dunne grounded Ligero. The crowd were all over Dunne as usual, this time giving him "where's your passport" and other Brexit related chants. Dunne won after a low blow and Drop Dead.
The Kings of the North (Corvin & Bonesaw) defeated The Fabulous Nicky & Angel Cruz
The Kings were dominant here against the team of Cruz & Nicky, that just can't get along. The Kings were really aggressive in beating down Nicky and finally got the win after a flapjack/boot combo. The crowd again were all over The Kings with Brexit related material.
Jordan Devlin defeated Tyler Bate
Ryan Smile was originally scheduled for a three way here, but he couldn't make the show due to a family issue. This gave us an incredible, World of Sport style match between Bate & Devlin. This was a thing of beauty and one of my favourite ever OTT matches. There was hardly a bump in the whole match. It was all chain wrestling and pinning combos. Devlin showed frustration at times when Bate out manoeuvred him. Bate is an incredible talent and is still only 19 years old. He has a big future. Devlin won with and Oklahoma Roll. After the match Devlin turned on Bate, dropping him with a Package Piledriver. He went on to cut a great promo about how he was sick of facing UK indie names and American imports. He wants his spot at the top of the card and he's gonna hurt people until he gets there. This was great.
OTT Tag Team Championship: The Gymnasties (Sammy D & B Cool w/Justin Shape) defeated Colt Cabana & Workie
This was an absolutely hilarious comedy match. Cabana & Workie were an amazing odd couple tag team. Cabana got the better of the goofy nasties, while trying to control the junkie, Workie. Cabana ended up doing "cocaine" when Workie's stash exploded in his face, which led to all sorts of hilarity. Cabana was pinned with a roll up. After the match Cabana raved with Workie and The Gymnasties.
Martina defeated Katey Harvey via DQ
This may be the first time in pro wrestling history where a vagina was the targeted body part of the match. That's what Harvey did here. This match took ages to start due to the crowd chanting for Martina, who wore an Irish football jersey to the ring. This was a fun match. As usual Martina showed lots of personality and the crowd were going nuts for her throughout the match. The DQ came when Corvin & Bonesaw got involved, helping Harvey cut out a lump of Martina's hair. This was hugely heated. Justin Shape & Danny Butler made the save.
OTT No Limits Championship: Luther Ward vs Big Damo - No Contest
This is one of the best matches Ward has had in OTT. This was a hell of a hoss battle. The bell rang and Damo immediately dropkicked Ward into the corner and bit a Vader Bomb. From there they were off. There were lots of high impact moves from both guys. There was a huge superplex that looked like it would collapse the ring. Damo hit the Ulster Plantation for a near fall. Ward hit his finish before Paul Tracey interfered, making his return to OTT. This led to Jordan Devlin attacking Damo & Ward, then revealing himself as a "Paul Tracey Guy". Damo bled heavily after the chair caught him in the back of the head. This only added to the angle. Tracey & Devlin said they were the Social Elite and that they had more people in the back ready to join their "revolution". This was an extremely heated and well done angle. Devlin went from an opening match guy to one of the biggest deals in OTT over the course of the night.
This was a great show with lots of variety. Great wrestling, fun comedy, big angles and a crowd that seemed hotter than usual.
