NO SUMMERSLAM FOR PAIGE VANZANT

By David Tees on 2016-06-23 21:30:00

Following a successful run on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, MMA fighter and UFC veteran Paige VanZant was left with a lot of options for projects outside of MMA, most notably an appearance at WWE Summerslam and appearing in a sequel to the upcoming "Kickboxer" movie reboot. However, VanZant turned them all down so she can return to action and face contender Bec Rawling at UFC On Fox 21 on 8/21.  That show would air opposite Summerslam.

VanZant appeared on ESPN Sportscenter and discussed why she turned down the Summerslam appearance, commenting, "Right now I’m 100 percent fight-focused and I would love to participate in anything the WWE has to offer when the timing’s right as long as it works with my fight schedule. I love WWE and if they ever reached out to me again I would love to work with them but right now I’m focused on Bec Rawlings.”

PWInsider.com first broke exclusive news that WWE had made an offer to Vanzant [Elite subscribers, click here] to be part of their Summer spectacular on 8/21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

On return to UFC, VanZant commented, “I feel like I just missed violence. I went to a few UFC fights and it’s really hard for me to sit still cageside because I just want to be in there and that’s how it’s been every time I go to a UFC fight.”
