BY THE NUMBERS: LOOKING AT THE WEEK IN WRESTLING FROM WWE, TNA, AND ROH

By Richard Trionfo on 2016-06-08 06:03:00

Even with one more match than last week, the seven shows that are covered in this column could not muster more wrestling than last week.  This week there was a total of 165 minutes of wrestling, down ten minutes from last week.  The main culprit for the decline over last week was Raw, which saw a forty percent drop from last week.

Smackdown won the week with 33 minutes of wrestling, up ten minutes from last week.  This is the second time in three weeks that Smackdown has won the week.  Raw finished in second place with 30 minutes of wrestling, down twenty minutes from last week.  This was the lowest total for Raw since May 18, 2015 when the show also had 30 minutes of wrestling.  Impact finished in third place with 28 minutes of wrestling, up two minutes from last week.  This was the third straight week that Impact was under thirty minutes of wrestling.

Fourth place went to Ring of Honor with 26 minutes of wrestling, up four minutes from last week.  Ring of Honor also had all of their matches go to commercial break.  Main Event finished in fifth place with 19 minutes of wrestling, down one minute from last week.  NXT finished in sixth place with 17 minutes, down four minutes from last week as they get ready for Takeover.  Superstars finished in last place with 12 minutes of wrestling, down one minute from last week.

This week saw Smackdown pass 9,500 minutes and they should hit 10,000 minutes of wrestling in October or November unless the move to Tuesday nights will cause a huge uptick in the amount of wrestling.

The total number of matches passed 9,000.  If they keep the same averages, we will hit 10,000 matches around Wrestlemania.

This week saw the total amount of wrestling go past 3,200 hours.

I have started a new feature for 2016.  Since a the times for the matches can be a little misleading because the counts are only for the time on the show and does not factor the commercial breaks.  Starting with this week, if there is a [c] next to a match, it means that there was a commercial break.
