AUSTIN ARIES VS. WESLEY BLAKE: 6/4 WWE NXT IN FT. PIERCE, FLORIDA LIVE REPORT

By Joseph A. Smith on 2016-06-05 09:49:00

NXT Fort Pierce
Havert L. Fenn Center
4 JUN 2016
Meet and Greet: Josh Woods, Chris Gerard and Mandy Rose

NXT returned to the Fenn Center tonight. The venue is not sold out tonight which sadly is not a surprise considering how bad the last show was back in April and the fact that most of the NXT Talent is in Atlanta for the "Road Trip" show.  This is the first time in several years that the Fenn Center is not sold out for NXT.

Patrick Clark pinned Dan Matha.  A decent opener with Matha catching a lot of heel heat from the audience.  Tons of "Mr. Clean" chants.  Clark is clearly showing improvement each time he wrestles here in Ft. Pierce.

Nikki Glenncross pinned Liv Morgan.  Solid women's match.  Liv looks amazing and is also improving in the ring.  Nikki makes her Ft. Pierce debut and does well interacting with the crowd as a heel

Josh Woods defeated Bronson Matthews by submission with the ankle lock.  Another solid match with Bronson in the heel role.  He has shown a great deal of improvement since Tough Enough.

Hugo Knox and Mojo Rawley defeated Sawyer Fulton and Alexander Wolfe.  Match started with Wolfe and Fulton attacking Mojo and Hugo during an impromptu pre match dance off.  A very entertaining tag match.  Crowd was into this one.  Knox scored the pin which led to another dance exhibition between Mojo and Knox.

Noah Kekoah pinned Chris Gerard (now going under the name of (Onie Lupin??)
Another solid match.  Both are improving with each performance.

Noah cuts a heel promo afterwards referencing the last show here in the Fort where he tried to "make friends with Shinsuke Nakamura" and how no one in Ft. Pierce wants to be his friend and booed him tonight. Really Noah, did we really need a reminder of that horrible show from back in April?  No wonder nobody likes you in the Fort!

Alexa Bliss pinned Adrienne Reese. Solid women's match. These two could have a great program together when Adrienne makes it to TV.  However having seen the cards from Tampa and Crystal River the past few nights it's disappointing not to have Asuka or Nia Jax here tonight especially with this being the last Florida NXT show prior to Takeover: The End .... on Wednesday.

Austin Aries defeated Wesley "The Beautiful Body" Blake (yes that's how he was announced) by submission.  Now this folks is a main event worthy match compared to the hot garbage we got back in April.  Aries makes his Ft. Pierce debut.  This was an excellent match.  A few comedy spots.  Lots of action and a lot of near fall.

Overall this was a better show that the last NXT show here back in April however it is still disappointing to see the lack of star power.  Especially when these shows are double booked which is really a disservice to the fans.  There is enough big name talent on the roster that NXT could easily divide it up evenly and send a decent amount of big names to each show.  Also why send Asuka and Nia Jax to the first two Florida shows of the weekend but not the third?  I have heard Triple H mention several times on the Takeover conference calls "that the Florida fans like seeing the up and coming talent perform and develop at these house shows" and yes while this is true the fans also want to see a fair share of NXT Main Roster talent as well.

NXT returns to Fort Pierce on July 7th.
