SAMOA JOE VS. ANDRADE ALMAS AND MORE: 5/21 WWE NXT IN WINTER HAVEN, FL LIVE REPORT

By Andrew Twiss on 2016-05-21 23:58:00

Here are full results from NXT Live in Winter Haven, FL for May 21, 2016.

Andrea D'Marco and Mike Rome are hosts and ring announcers for the evening.

- No Way Jose def. Tucker Knight- Decent little opener. The crowd was totally into Jose. Knight used his power to keep Jose on the ropes, until Jose made the comeback. Work was decent until the end where the timing between the two wasn't clicking. Still, a fun little opener.

- Peyton Royce def. Liv Morgan - A really good match. Royce showed some real nice aggression and Morgan looked the most fluid in the ring that I've ever seen of her. It was a really good match.

- Chris Girard def. Murphy - Another decent match. The early parts of the match were about the two fighting to control wristlocks. Then it transitioned into Girard finding increasingly creative ways to get Murphy in a headlock. It was a solid, entertaining match. I'm interested to see more of Murphy as a singles performer.

- Mojo Rawley def. Elias Samson- The crowd hated Samson's guts and booed him every time he tried to speak. Mojo got a great reaction from the fans. He kept mocking Samson, saying "He's the only guy I've seen play a guitar that gets NO CHIX!". The match was less of a technical classic, and more of a means to do some of Mojo's fun spots and entertain the crowd.

- American Alpha def. The Authors of Pain  ( Gzim Selmani and Sunny Dhinsa) - Solid stuff. For both of them being newer to working matches live, Selmani and Dhinsa already look like they belong. They are two thickly built powerhouses and did a good job in there with Alpha. Still, it's even more impressive to see Jason Jordan toss those two big guys around with suplexes.

- Adrienne Reese def. Nikki Glencross- Glencross is the former Nikki Storm and she looked good here. She has that tenacity and aggressiveness that no one really shows in the Women's Division. When she and Reese find their way to the televised portion of the Women's Division, it will be a nice benefit to the brand.

- Mandy Rose was brought out for a promo with Andrea D'Marco. Rose talked about how the Women's Division is killing it. She says that she's not only as good as the other women, but she looks better doing it. Besides the crowd heckling her and chanting "What", it was fine for what it was.

- TM61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) def. Patrick Clark and Angelo Dawkins - Decent stuff. Clark and Dawkins spent a lot of the match aggressively trash talking TM61 until Clark took the pin in the end.

- Samoa Joe def. Andrade "Cien" Almas - Almas is the former La Sombra and Manny Andrade. This was a really fun match. Joe kept using his strikes to stop Almas whenever he built up momentum. Almas would use his flying to keep trying to make the comeback. In the end, Almas, riding a wave of momentum went for a roll up, only for Joe to reverse it into a Coquina Clutch. Really good stuff. The best part is, if this match ever makes it to a Takeover special, I know own they can take this match to even higher levels.

Notes

- Meet and Greet before the show was Nikki Glencross, Hugo Knox, and Patrick Clark.

- NXT returns to Winter Haven on June 30.
