WWE PAYBACK NEWS AND NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2016-05-03 14:33:00

Had Enzo Amore not been injured during the WWE Tag Team championship contenders tournament finale, the initial plan was for the Vaudevillains to win and go on to challenge New Day.

The Emma vs. Becky Lynch match that was on Raw last night was originally penciled in for the Payback PPV but was later pushed back.

At one point, there were also plans for Alberto Del Rio vs. Sheamus on the PPV but that idea was shelved as well.

The finish involving Charles Robinson in the Women's championship match was decided upon the Friday before the PPV, we are told.

While Bret Hart has been publicly outspoken of late about WWE and Triple H, he was seen spending over 30 minutes talking to Triple H before the PPV and there were no signs of issues backstage between Hart and WWE officials.

Pat Patterson was backstage at the PPV.
