COULD WWE MOVE RAW TO ESPN ONE DAY?, THEY LIVE, BRANDON BAXTER AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-04-28 10:00:00

I was wondering - do you think WWE having wrestlers on ESPN could be the start of building a relationship with the cable network with the idea of taking Raw or Smackdown there one day?

Certainly, it is possible.  WWE would love to have a great relationship with ESPN, if for no other reason than to remind the USA Network that they have other potential places to take their programming if and when it's time to negotiate the next TV deal.  I don't think the strategy currently is anything beyond WWE trying to get their performers in appearances that can help legitimize them and the company to a mainstream audience but you never know where the relationship could lead.  Whatever it becomes, even if it becomes nothing more than WWE having performers on Sportscenter, it benefits WWE to be involved with ESPN.

I see Tommy Dreamer's promotion is continuing to grow but what does his WWE deal mean for that?  I can't see WWE wanting someone to run against them in the same markets, especially with NXT.

Dreamer is not signed to a WWE contract and can do anything he wants.  His last return to the company was simply for a number of dates and that was it.

Whatever happened to Brandon Baxter, the kid who was on the old ESPN GWF TV show?

He grew up!  Seriously, Baxter made appearances in Memphis and has made appearances, as a ring announcer, for Jeff Jarrett's promotion, and works full time doing morning radio in East Arkansas.

It's been about a week since Adam Rose made his public statement and he hasn't been fired yet: do you think he will be?

It's hard to say.  I'm surprised he hasn't followed up with the additional statement from his doctor, but it could be he was legally advised not to do anything.  I am sure WWE wasn't happy about him speaking out and we will see, in time, if that leads to him being released.  The entire situation there is sad because WWE obviously had something with him and never properly presented it on the main roster and they basically devalued their own asset.  Now, it will be interesting to see whether Rose being as open as he was about the suspension will have strained that relationship beyond repair.  I don't think we'll be seeing him getting a push anytime soon, either way.

I know this isn't really a wresting question, but why was there never a sequel to "They Live"?

Director John Carpenter has often said the film was meant to be a statement about the state of the United States at the time and specificially what has been termed "Regeanomics" under then President Ronald Reagan.  I think he made the statement he wanted and moved on to his next project.
