SHOULD WWE BE BLAMED WHEN DREAM MATCHES DON'T TAKE PLACE, JAMES STORM, CONOR MCGREGOR AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2016-04-30 10:00:00

How depressing is it that 15 years after taking over WCW, WWE still hasn't (and never will) given us these 3 dream matches/feuds that were guaranteed ratings grabbers & ticket sellers: Austin vs. Hogan, Austin vs. Goldberg, & Sting vs. Undertaker?

Not depressing at all.  Austin retired before Goldberg came to WWE.  Hogan and Austin was never a match Austin wanted to do.  Sting got injured before he could face Undertaker.  There's nothing we can do to change what happened and I don't think it's fair to cast blame on WWE for not booking things they had no power to control.  They tried to sign Sting before 2014 and it just never happened.   You can't be upset at them because Austin had neck issues and retired.    You can't be mad Sting wanted to work for TNA.  You can't be mad that the timing never worked for Hogan and Austin.  Life doesn't fit into perfect chapters.

Last night on Raw when Gallows & Anderson attached Roman Reigns, Michael Cole referred to their move as “The Boot of Doom.” Is that what they plan to call their finisher or was that a mistake by Michael Cole? It was really funny in the moment, but not something I hope that sticks.

It's since been called The Magic Killer.

So with Bobby Roode basically in NXT and TNA on the brink of being sold. Have you heard if James Storm is regretting his decision to go back?

No word on Storm, but he has a contract and he's getting paid, so he has to be content.  He wasn't signed to be part of Beer Money.  He was signed to perform for TNA.

Roode has not, as of this writing, signed with NXT, by the way.

I understand that Connor McGregor is a big name and as such would get WWE a lot of publicity. But let’s say, in theory, that McGregor is done with UFC and would like to come to WWE and actually learn to wrestle… he’s 5’9 and 170lbs. I know he is a bonafide, world class fighter… but he’s not the size that Vince usually likes his “superstars” to have. So my question is do you think Vince would bring him in and push him as a star or would he be “just another small guy the public wont take seriously” in Vince’s eye? And could McGregor, if he were to join WWE, help change Vince's perception that smaller guys can actually be huge draws?

McGregor's name value (and the cost of signing him) would result in a push, potentially, but there's a lot of "What ifs" there.

Why was Tracy Smothers scheduled for ECW Barely Legal and then worked a WWF house show instead?  If the Barely Legal dark match had remained a six man, who would have teamed with JT Smith and

He was still under a WWF deal as Freddy Joe Floyd and they needed him for a tour overseas.  The third partner with JT Smith and Chris Chetti would have been Mikey Whipwreck.
