I understand why the WWE is having The New Day induct the Freebirds, (3 man team), but why would they not reach out the Kevin Von Erich to do these honors? The Von Erich/Freebird feud put World Class on the map.
Originally, the word was that Kevin was going to be the inductor but WWE made the decision to go with The New Day. From what I understand, it was just a decision to use current talent in the role. I see both sides. Von Erich was a classic foe for them, but getting your current guys a rub is a good idea too.
Do you think that adding Zack Ryder to the IC ladder match was a way to replace Neville? If so what are your thoughts?
That was the word, that Neville was in the spot before he was injured. Personally, I hate that they are doing a multi-man match here (especially since Kalisto and Ryback have a traditional singles match for the US Title). To me, the better story would have been playing up Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn, period. As much as I like and respect Ryder, I don't see what gets added to the bout by adding him and the extra talents. I am glad he is getting on WrestleMania though, because they really have used him badly.
As far as the IC ladder match at Wrestlemania, while I'm sure it will be entertaining do you think it hurts Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn? I feel like aside from those 2 you have 5 other guys in the match that lose a lot. Seems like this match now loses some credibility. Especially when you have Ryback and Kalisto one on one. I felt like Zayn and Owens in any sort of one on one match would have been money. And the fact that Zayn is in this ladder match I think hurts him a bit.
You read my mind. Yes, I do feel that way. I mean no disrespect to the other five guys, but I do think it hurts the match overall. This could have been a great story match. Ryback and Kalisto is not. I wish they would have added the extra man and the ladder there.
With KO's comments towards Ryder after Cole specifically brought up the latter during his sit-down interview this week, do you think it's possible Ryder could finally get another great feud on the Main Roster? If not KO, with someone else for the IC Title contendership throughout the year?
I don't see Zack getting an IC Title feud. I hope they give him a chance to show what he can do and then give him a decent push after Mania, but I have been hoping that for a while now.
I watch a great show here in Canada called Aftermath w/Jimmy Korderes after Smackdown every week. Anyways, one of the commentators, Nug, made a great point tonight about Wrestlemania; no matter which match is the Main Event (Roman/HHH or Undertaker/Shane), we are going to go away disappointed. Do you agree?
I have been saying that on audio for weeks now. Unless they have the mother of all angles planned, I don't see how they end the show with a happy crowd.
