BIG RETURN TO OPEN RAW, IT LEADS TO MASSIVE NEW WRESTLEMANIA MATCH ANNOUNCED

By Mike Johnson on 2016-02-22 20:14:00

Shane McMahon returned to WWE TV for the first time in years as a surprise, coming out after Vince McMahon had presented Stephanie McMahon with the "Vincent J. McMahon Legacy of Excellence" Award.

McMahon returned in a babyface role, informing Stephanie McMahon that he's secretly had power in the company dating back years after helping his father "out of trouble" with the idea that Shane was now holding his power over Vince to gain control of Monday Night Raw in order to "save the company" for future generations after the way Stephanie and Triple H have "run it into the ground."

Vince agreed as long as Shane McMahon wrestled and defeated The Undertaker at Wrestlemania inside Hell in A Cell.  Should Shane win, he would have control of Raw.  Should he not, Vince would regain all the WWE power.  The match appears to set the stage for a new brand split between Raw and Smackdown.

McMahon left his position as Executive Vice President of Global Media for the company in October 2009.    He had been written out of TV storylines earlier that year after being attacked by Randy Orton and Legacy, after having his "ankle broken."

Since leaving WWE, McMahon became the CEO of You On Demand, the first VOD and Pay-Per-View service in China.  In 2013, he stepped down as the CEO of the company but remained the Chairman of the Board of the company.
