RELEASES, INJURIES, BAD BOOKING - IS THE 2009 WWE RAW DRAFT CLASS CURSED?

By Buck Woodward on 2009-07-30 15:25:39

Three months ago, WWE held their 2009 Draft and Supplemental Draft, bringing 15 stars to the Raw brand.  With the release of Brian Kendrick and Maryse going out for knee surgery this week, both part of that draft, it made me wonder if the 2009 Raw Draft class was "cursed".  Take a look at the names that were brought to Raw in April.

Matt Hardy - Currently out injured and moved to Smackdown.

Maryse - Currently out injured.

Mr. Kennedy - Released.

The Brian Kendrick - Released.

Nikki Bella - Moved to ECW in the "Trump trade" angle.

Brie Bella - Moved to ECW in the "Trump trade" angle.

Festus - Rarely seen on television, I believe his last appearance was suing the toilet stall after Donald Trump made it Vince McMahon's "office".

The Miz - 0-3 against John Cena in actual singles matches.

Chavo Guerrero - Putting together a Goldberg-like streak ... of losses to Hornswoggle.

MVP - Expected to be a main event player, has instead found himself floundering in the mid-card of Raw.

So, ten out of fifteen are either injured, poorly used, or not even on Raw anymore.  The other five names on the list:

Triple H - He's done very well for himself on Raw.  I know, shocking.

Big Show - Currently part of the Unified Tag Team Champions with Chris Jericho, he can appear on any brand.

Carlito & Primo Colon - The first WWE Unified Tag Team Champions (and one of the few regular tag teams in the company), now split up and working singles matches.

Hornswoggle - The most successful "little person" wrestler in North America in the last 20 years.

It certainly is interesting to look at the career paths the 15 performers who WWE wanted on the "A-show" have taken since being moved to Monday nights three months ago.
