COMPLETE RING OF HONOR 12th ANNIVERSARY COVERAGE

By Mike Johnson on 2014-02-21 11:59:33
Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing ROH 12th Anniversary coverage from Philadelphia, PA at the National Guard Armory. I'll be doing ongoing coverage while Stu Carapola provides running thoughts from the show.

They opened the show with Caprice Coleman defeating the debuting Amasis, who has worked CHIKARA and CZW in the past as part of the Osirian Portal. They had a good back and forth which Coleman won. We were setting up so I only saw some of it, but it was good.

ROH was dealyt some issues thanks to the weather in the Northeast. Matt Hardy's flight from Raleigh, NC was canceled after multiple postponements and won't be making it. Bobby Cruise's flight was also canceled so ROH was down a ring announcer as well.

Kevin Kelly came out and welcomed everyone to the show and asked that the crowd please remember they are taping for TV to make it easier for the production. Steve Corino was brought out and explained that Bobby Cruise wasn't there. He said he had a solution. The crowd chanted for Larry Legend. Corino said he couldn't reach him, and brought out Scarlett Bordeauxx, who is ultra-hot and is, I believe, making her debut as a ring announcer.

They did a ten bell salute for Ryu Nakata.

Matt Taven vs. Silas Young

The crowd chanted for Young to cut his mustache. He worked over Taven early. Taven kicked him off during a charge and hit a flying bodypress for a two count. He missed a big boot in the corner and was dumped out of the ring. He nailed a sunset flip into the ring but Young grabbed the referee to break it.

They went back and forth until Young nailed a neckbreaker on the ropes. He covered Taven for a two count. He worked over Taven in the corner but was nailed with a leaping enziguiri. Taven unloaded with a series of kicks and nailed a quebrada for a two count.

Young used a jawbreaker to halt Taven’s momentum. He nailed him with a backbreaker. They went and forth. Young blocked Angel’s Wings and nailed a short clothesline. Young nailed a rolling Samoan drop. He went to the top for a move but Taven moved and nailed a mafia kick.

Taven nailed a frog splash off the top and scored the pin.

Your winner, Matt Taven!

Good back and forth opener, especially when you consider Young had just arrived at the building due to transit issues.

The crowd looks to be in the 800-900 range.

After the match, Young laid out Taven. Truth Martini tried to offer his hand to Young, who walked off. Martini mocked Taven.

The Decade vs. Adam Page & Mark Briscoe & Cedric Alexander

Page and Jacobs started out. Page nailed a bodypress for a two count. Briscoe tagged in, as did Strong. Strong took control and stomped the hell out of Briscoe. Whitmer tagged in and chopped away at Briscoe, then scored a two count. Strong stomped the hell out of Briscoe and chopped him.

The Decade continued tagging in and out. Mark nailed a springboard to leap across the ring to tag Cedrick, who came in and cleaned house. He and Strong went back and forth but Whitmer cut him off and beat the hell out of Alexander in the corner. The Decade worked over Alexander.

Alexander finally drilled Whitmer with an enziguiri. He tagged in Briscoe who nailed some redneck Kung Fu. He dropkicked Jacobs into the corner and tagged Page in. Everyone began battling in the ring. It came down to Strong and Alexander chopping the hell out of each other in the ring. Alexander nailed a sick belly to back suplex.

BJ Whitmer nailed Alexander. He and Jacobs double teamed Page. Whitmer had him in an over the shoulder backbreaker. Jacobs nailed him with an Ace Crusher as he slammed Page down and pinned him.

Your winner, The Decade!

A really good, hard fought back and forth six man tag.

ROH TV Tomasso Ciampa vs. Hanson

They went nose to nose and began slugging it out at the bell. Ciampa took control and suplexed him backwards over the top to the floor. They battled on the floor with Ciampa working him over.

Hanson cut him off as they returned to the ring and nailed a nice powerslam. They went back and forth. Hanson went for a leapfrog but was caught and nailed with a Kryptonite Krunch for a two count.

They went back and forth with punches. Ciampa dropkicked Hanson into the ropes. He rebounded into a cartwheel and drilled Ciampa with a stiff lariat for a two count. Great spot!

Ciampa went for Project Ciampa but was shoved him into the corner. Hanson nailed a Bronco Buster in the corner and nailed a moonsault for a two count. Ciampa locked him in the Rings of Saturn but Hanson stood up and dumped him, then nailed a leg lariat.

They battled on the top and Hanson set up for a Fall Away Slam off the top. Ciampa slipped out and nailed Project Ciampa for the pin.

Your winner and still ROH TV champion, Tomasso Ciampa!

Excellent slobberknocker of a match. Really strong showing for Hanson and Ciampa had an awesome competitive bout.

Really strong stuff on the undercard so far.
